Golden Gate Bridge - For MrZippy ;)

The bridge looks sweet! I must have flown to KSFO San Francisco at least a hundred times before, but never thought to look for it! Did a few low passes now to give the passengers a good view.

Hope you like it MrZippy ;)

Oh, come now. Everyone knows that a "low pass" on the Gate means going UNDER it! Over isn't low. Tsk tsk!

If you don't have some sea-weed in the gear, it aint a "low" pass ;) :p

It's like the AF's version of "close air support", above 10,000'AGL, isn't what we Marine's call close! If they don't come back with foliage in the gear doors, it aint "close"!!

Great pictures, thanks for a wonderfull post! I was born and raised in the Bay. If you fly over the Woodside VOR/TAC, you are pretty close to over the house I grew up in :D

Again, thanks for a great post!

Pat☺

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Yes Pat,

I got my butt ate out more than once when someone caught my tail number while flying under bridges. Of course there was a war going on so they wouldn't ground us for something that trivial. That would set our next deployment back!

Stationed at MCAF Santa Ana we had problems with Duece and A-4 drivers from El Toro flying through our blimp hangers. MAN TALKING ABOUT LOUD!!! We ended up having to keep the hanger doors facing East closed to make them stop. Same deal, what do you threaten them with, not sending them back to get shot at again??

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

I usually make land just a little further south I think. Near 17CL. And then turm left to 28. But I must have tuned Woodside on occasion to see where I am and when I can start descending. (Woodside on my left when heading 010 or so = Over the mountains, clear to descend.)

I'll think of you next time I fly past.:)

I wasn't sure if the 737 would fit underneath. Plus I had imagined passengers on board.

I will try it some day, give the crew a day off and just take a 'unmarked airliner' paint up for a spin. Can't be bothered if that one gets scratched.:):)

Thanks for the kind words (all).

I feel they look even better here, before resizing to make them fit the filesize limit. Wish I could show you how the 'before' looks. My pc is running better then ever at the moment. (new case, much lower temps)

Glad you enjoyed them, and Araripe, welcome to the forum!:)

Not only do I like your screenies, I enjoyed reading the postings as well. I have to agree with you il88pp on maybe trying one of the default B737 who cares about those paint schemes, surely don't want to scratch a nice liner paint. I think if you tell the passengers aboard it might be exciting to go under the bridge as long as you tried it out first & make sure your gears are up & locked, now that would have any ride at Disneyland beat as for E ticket. ...now that would have any ride at Disneyland beat as for E ticket. Kenny

I wonder how many folks are scratching their head at the reference :D

I gave up on Disney Land after a small...misadventure, shall we say, at the original in Santa Ana. I tried to go through a turnstile, one of the three-bar, rotating kind. It hadn't been turned quite all the way through it's ratchet point before I got to it, snapped back and hit me right...in a bad place, shall we say? 3" diameter metal bar moving hard and fast. My parents said I turned an odd shade of green and went down like a sack of potatos. I never went back to the place again...

I did go to Mariott's Great America in Mountain View more than once though. Had a GF who worked there. Made some of the rides real thrill rides...

I went to Boot camp right there in San Diego, too. Boy, was that airport tempting sometimes...But that's SoCal. I was mostly a NorCal boy. Spent a lot of time on San Gregorio Beach. Just about where you would come ashore, il88pp :D

Not to mention the redwood forests thereabouts. I love the place, although a lot of the redwoods, sadly, have been decimated in Woodside to make room for rich folks mansions. Great loss to the world, in my opinion. The redwoods took thousands of years to grow, the rich folks, they come and go...

Anyhow, I'l give a wave if I see a 737 going over. It's my father's fave, I recall. Called 'em minipigs.

Who doesn't remember "E-tickets"?? Good for a ride on the Autopia, which I was too short for, at the time! Gotta reach the underside of the warning sign!

Ah, hell! Autopia was a "C" ticket, I lied!

My favorite was always the Submarine Ride. I loved that thing...

Until I decided never to go back, that is....

I still wish they sold tickets by the book! We used to go to Disneyland, when there was only one, on Friday and Saturday nights. We'd pay for a general admission ticket & spend the evening listening to the free concerts and dancing with new chicks in the various lands. And occasionally get to catch Tinkerbell in the castle! Rides, who needs to go on a ride?

BTW: Being naturally cheap, I also loved to go to Knots Berry Farm for free & watch their shows as well.

Tried to have a go at the bridge last night. From CYVR. Didn't make it, fell asleep halfway through and was miles away by the time I woke up again. Couldn't be bothered and left the co-pilot to finish the flight. (Esc-Enter-Esc-Enter :p )

But I saved early on in the flight, and am trying again. 450Nm to go, so I should be under the bridge in about an hour. Hold on to your pointy hat MrZippy, and get the earplugs out. It should either be a loud rumbling noise or a loud bang.;)

KCD, it took me 5 years, hard to believe perhaps. Then again I think you've been at it even longer so I guess you understand.

And Kenny (Liner Simpilot), to my amazement my regular airline agreed I did it in a their paint, with passengers and all. The dispatcher said: It's only virtual after all... have at it!

I hope I manage a few shots. Trying to think of a nice angle. hmmm.

And occasionally get to catch Tinkerbell in the castle!

I called my little sister Tinkerbell. I was 3 when the Disney show was just starting and my parents asked me what I wanted to call my new (up-and-comming soonish) baby sister. I took one look and yelled TINKERBELL!!! From then on, to the family, she was Tinkerbell!

il88pp: Now THAT'S a low pass! Nicely done. Great pics too! As the Brits say, "I say, good show, wot? Well done old chap!"

Not even a fish or some seaweed to show for it either. Great pass!

Not that *I*, of course, would ever do such a thing...

100ft. Why know so precise? Well, to take screenshots I had to do it on autopilot. Plus I had invited mr Becker up front to do the callouts again;)

Pat, i think what you do there is much more impressive:) I'll try manually as well someday, but without pics, just focussing on the altimeter, power and trim. Love that 737!

Happy flights,

il88pp
