FSX Shared Cockpit Plane Floating

Hi,

I need some help. Me and my friend do shared cockpits every now and then on FSX Multiplayer, I have recently got a new computer and have freshly downloaded FSX and my payware planes onto it. On my old PC, there were no problems what so ever, everything ran fine. Although, on my new PC I have encountered a problem that I would like to fix.

In the multiplayer session, my friend is always the host (only the host has control over the plane's yoke) and he has no problems at all, he is always the first in when the world starts up too. On the other hand, 50% of the time, I spawn in floating above the ground, this happens in some airports but not in others. Once again, the host has never had this problem. I've tried to avoid these bad airports, but every time I spawn in an airport where I'm on the ground, the destination airport is bugged too, as when we land I'm genuinely floating above the landing runway. In attempts to get rid of this problem I have uninstalled and reinstalled FSX and my payware, it still has the problem. Also, in my free flight sessions on my own, I have never had the floating problem, so something must be wrong my my multiplayer.

This problem has restricted me from doing any shared cockpits with my friend for the past few weeks now. So, I am desperate for a solution. You will find an image of me floating above the ground at a gate when I spawn into the game along with this post.

Thanks.floating.jpeg

I believe you have to hit the 'B' key to set both to same elevation (ie: atmopheric pressure). That is how it used to work anyway. That's all I got.

Are you and your friend using different addon airports perhaps, with a different elevation set?

Does this only happen when sharing a cockpit?

So not when you do your own flight online with him hosting without sharing a cockpit?

And if only when sharing, do you mean when you share he does not see it but you do??

Also, I don't know if your session type allows it, but if it does you could try "Slew" to get it on the ground.

"Slew" mode moves the aircraft without flying/taxiing.

To enter Slew mode, press y on the keyboard.

you can then go left with the arrow key, and stop movement with the 'right' arrow key.

twice 'left' goes left faster. twice 'right stops the movement again.

Same for forward-back.

Up down in Slew is done with F1 F2 F3 F4. To set the airsraft on the ground if it floats, press y, then F1, then y again.

-----(y the second time is to exit Slew mode again.)

(you may need to have "Detect Damage" switched off, but I don't think it's needed.)

Give it a whirl!

Actually, as you said you have the problem when landing as well, I expect Slew won't do much.

But add-on airports can be a real issue.

I had this once when on multiplayer. I installed an add-on for EDDF that had "corrected coordinates". The add-on readme said that the default EDDF was not in the correct place.

When I tried it in multiplayer, I saw no one else was there. Normally that airport was crowded with players.

I tuned the tower at EDDF and heard players taking off and landing!

When I went to 'birds eye view' and zoomed out I saw from above that all the players were there, but about 20 NM south of my position.

I guess if your add-on has a slightly different elevation from the one used by the host you will get this difference.

Our host server used only default scenery, so using an add-on airport was always a bit dicey.

Also, if you have FSRecorder installed it will allow you to lower it using key presses. That works but not sure if it will in multiplayer. But I still think that if both of you press the 'B' key you will both be 'in sync' and on the ground.
