shanwick
Can anyone tell me if this is worth getting, please? I read a review over at Avsim which wasn't very complimentary but I think that was written before the patch to Version 2 was released. Any info, good or bad, will be much appreciated. JSMR
I have the Aeroworx King Air. And I'd say hands down its the best aircraft for Fs9. My opinion of course. And I don't have every aircraft but have the level d, ifly, pmdg 747 etc. I've also read of real King Air pilots who have raved about it. One of the first and still one the few developers who correctly modelled ITT that RISES as the aircraft climbs. Does have a few quirks that are overcome with some easy mods. And has a little learning curve to flying it as well. The sound is fantastic but one of the quirks is that fs9 never modelled the sound of the prop rpm to change with the prop controls. Aeroworx never modelled it but there are a couple sound packages that do. Once is freeware which is ok. One is from TSS which is what I use with a couple mods to that using some original sound files in it that I preferred. The ONLY major issue is that ITT rises to a higher level then it should at high OAT. If you use redline - 800 degrees - as a limit, it's not too much a problem. But the manual - real King Air and Aeroworx - state cruise climb limit and Normal cruise ITT be kept at 770 max. Some recommend no more the 760 to keep away from the limit. So cruise torque wil be less then the charts. Some operators use 740 ITT in the cruise so even less again. I made some adjustments to the air file which are very easy if you are familiar with it. Gives a little more realistic torque/ITT value at most OAT temps. Also I can adjust it to have similar performance to a B200 fitted with the Raiseback mods which gives 10-15 Kt better cruise performance. Plus I've tested another adjustment that achieves performance similar to a Blackhawk B200 with PT6A-52 engines. Yep, guess you know what I think of the Aeroworx King Air. :D https://fshub.io/airline/RUA/overview
shanwick
Many thanks, JSMR, for your good explanations. Just one question if I may, please. When taxiing what is the creep forward like? Have you found a way to eliminate it or keep it to an absolute minimum? I've always found this to be a bit of a nuisance on turbo props in FS9. Otherwise, I can feel my credit card getting ready!! Dijvid

JSMR
I found pretty easy to hold a steady speed using condition levers pushed forward to have around 250-300 ft/lbs of torque. Add a little power then just off on etc and adjust the condition levers a little to achieve a pretty steady taxi speed. If condition levers in full high idle, it'll speed pretty quickly. Hope that answers your question. https://fshub.io/airline/RUA/overview
shanwick
Yes, it does. Many thanks for your help, JSMR. I'm just waiting to get my request to join the King Air Forum approved so that I can download the 2.1 and 2.2 patches. I understand that the 2.1 patch improves the ability to capture an ILS. Until I can be sure of getting these patches I'm holding fire on my purchase. I've tried Googling for these with no success - seems that the King Air Forum is the only place to get them so I will just have to be patient!
