Aircraft and Scenery section 'request'

Hi there,

I have been wondering about one thing. In general, all flightsim forums feature the section about a particular flightsim (in this case-FSX). Some forums I have read have threads about particular aircraft or addons (scenery, weather engines). The FSX forum on flightsim.com (as well as a few other forums) don't usually have such threads. Not that I'm criticizing something!

Essentially such threads could be made to discuss problems, opinions about products, post previews, link reviews etc. I think, that limiting the subsection to payware clearly doesn't make sense.

The only thing I'm not sure about, is whether you can actually divide the FSX forum into a subsection.

Hopefully someone replies or leaves a comment about my idea.

Cheers,

Jan

I agree with you, the whole forum needs pruning and streamlining because there are too many confusing sections and subsections etc.

Having so many also unnecessarily adds to the moderators workload.

I'm a moderator at Mission4Today and if the Flightsim.com bosses want my suggestions I'd be glad to help..:)

Hi there,

I have been wondering... ....In general, all flightsim forums feature the section about a particular flightsim (in this case-FSX).

I'm not sure I understand you. The forum here has Subforums for many different sims as well. Have a look here, a few levels up:

https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/forum.php

Some forums I have read have threads about particular aircraft or addons (scenery, weather engines). The FSX forum on flightsim.com (as well as a few other forums) don't usually have such threads. ......

Do you mean you want one single thread for each free addon from the File Library?

How would that work?

First of all, the developers of the addons often are long gone.

Second. Most questions in the thread would be:"It doesn't work" -- It would turn out that that users issue is not caused by the addon at all, but by a driver, a pc issue, a faulty fsx install, etc. The answers would lead away from the original topic, the addon itself.

Also, the freeware utilities often have there own forums. Better to get the info from there. Example: FSUIPC.

We do have the MSFS Scenery Design forum here, where you can get a lot of help with ADE (Airport Design Editor).

Recently an extra function was created where you can comment on a freeware addon from the library.

So if you downloaded and tried it you can leave a short comment to inform others about it. These are slowly turning into list full of info.

To look up info on an addon you can always look up the threads on it using the 'Search' function. Weeding through the results is probably easier then weeding through a single thread with 300 posts.

Essentially such threads could be made to discuss problems, opinions about products, post previews, link reviews etc. I think, that limiting the subsection to payware clearly doesn't make sense.

What threads about payware on flightsim.com are you referring to?

I occasionally see a review about a new product, but that's about it.

I think you didn't understand what I was talking about. I wanted to say, that making a subforum about addons in the FSX, FS2004 or any other secton about a particular sim would be a good idea.

Thread for every addon in the library? No way. There are a few noteworthy adddons, that could be mentioned, but not all! With the ability to comment on files in the library, there is no need for that.

You said, that there would be a lot of questions aout the addons not working. True. People will always have problmes with addons, their PCs and FSX, cause all of them are inperfect.

Hope it helps.

PS

Bear in mind, this is only an unrealistic request-idea type of thing.
