ATIS causing delays.

I know this is a requirement for pilots to listen to the ATIS fair enough but it drives me mad when it is constantly transmitting.

I make contact with ATC then it kicks in, at every break it kicks in again, this holds up the departure of not only my aircraft but other trying to contact ATC for clearance.

I've tried clicking on the different options in the ATC drop down menu but it doesn't work, the only time it stops is when I reach the runway and change frequency.

I Googled it and lots of other have this problem, I was hoping there might be some file I could edit to stop it altogether.

Funny thing is the ATIS that kicks in is normally for another airport as well.

Now as I type this on my laptop I notice on the other PC with FSX I'm at the runway but on hold for incoming AC, now if the ATIS hadn't held me up I would have got there sooner and be in the air not still stuck on the ground.

LOL!!FSX is even more realistic than I realized. Try spending 4 hours RW at Detroit or Cleveland on the ground while taxiing back and forth from the de-ice station in the winter! When a 16:30 flight departs at 21:00 because of de-icing there's a good chance the car rental station will be closed for the night when you arrive at your destination! Taxicab to the hotel, taxicab back tomorrow after meetings to pick up the rental car. Flying in an aluminum tube for your company sure is fun!

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

This doesn't sound right. As a "rule", ATIS and the tower/ground/departure are never on the same frequency. So unless you have tuned in ATIS on COM2 as Zippy suggests, and you listen to both COMs at the same time, you should not be constantly hearing it.

The way you describe it, maybe you are getting the ATIS of another airport nearby that has the exact same frequency than your local tower(this too should not happen, but you never know). Which airport is this and what scenery addons do you use?
