HoratioWondersocks
Hello All I sent a member a number of 'private'messages today .imagine my surprise when they appeared in the shout box for the world and its wife to see. What's occurring? I did check out various settings relating to the SB but couldn't see anything obvious. Anyways I have never liked SB so deleted it.Or at least made it invisible when I open the FScom forums page. I found the setting for that at least. But why is supposedly private correspondence appearing there? Somewhat rather defeats the 'private' idea. Cheers. Andy
mrzippy
I did see one setting for the Shoutbox that I just set. Enable or disable PM in the shoutbox. I just set mine to disable. I also have the shoutbox disabled so as to not appear on my screen. Since I don't monitor the shoutbox, I wonder if my PM messages were displayed?? Oh, man! all those horrible things I said about SOX! :p Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
PhantomTweak
Only the user logged in with a specific username sees a PM notification in the shoutbox. No one else. The notification in the shoutbox is "For your eye's only, daaahhhhhlink..." :D Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again! Sgt, USMC, 10 years proud service, Inactive reserve now :D

Oh, man! all those horrible things I said about SOX! :p You what Sir !!How could anybody say anything horrible about old socks. I need even more beer than usual. Actually old socks are often smelly and full of holes. BEER!!! Actually a good point you make about PMs.If just elect to have it not display, but forget to disable PMs appearing in SB option do they appear anyway. Anyways !at least as a result of this glitch I did discover the setting that allows you to turn of SB So some sort of result at least. Never really liked what was going on in SB even though moderated, it always had a tendency to head south and was not always the best advert for FScoms forums IMO. A. n4gix
As stated previously, it is not a "glitch", it is a feature. Only you will see any "Shoutbox" announcements that are addressed to you. ScatterbrainKid
Yeah the shoutbox is like a jolly ongoing party, but for serious help and advice have a shower, comb your hair, brush your teeth and go ask in the forums where the experts can all show off their unearthly knowledge by giving us longwinded geeky replies laced with their superhuman wit and intellect..:)
ftldave
When I saw a disturbed person making sick jokes about killing kittens in the Shoutbox, I knew it was time to turn it off and never go back there. :(
