alexzar14 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Good day, a new issue here (few weeks since noticed) I experience a drop in fps rate, although the fps counter (shit+z) indicates 22-30. I see the drop on approaches and taxiing, it feels like it is 17-18 fps while the counter says 24-27. My monitor resolution is 3440 x 1440 and my vid card is Evga 970GTX. Is that enough of the card?
W2DR Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 The problem almost certainly isn't the card. Most likely it's the amount of detail that has to be drawn in and around the airport, and that's causing a stuttering effect (CPU issue). What scenery/add-ons are you using? CPU spec? Aircraft used? Which airport(s)? Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.0 Ghz, Asus Maxumus XII Hero MB, Noctua NH-U12A Cooler, Corsair Vengence Pro 32GB 3200Mhz, Geforce RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, and other good stuff.
ScatterbrainKid Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 ..My monitor resolution is 3440 x 1440.. I'm not a tech expert but that sounds a little high? My monitor's native reso is 1920 x 1080 and gives a perfect pin-sharp FSX display, so I don't need to go higher even if I could.

alexzar14 Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 The monitor is 34" ultrawide, I think the best alternative to 3 screens, I love it. The monitor resolution is what I mentioned, the FSX resolution I have set to the same (3440x1440), but I can lower the FSX res if you suggest so, if that causes the problem. I believed it would make no difference to FSX. CPU is 4790K, airplanes - from Carenado B200/C550 to PMDG, no matter. Sceneries - FSDT/Aerosoft, even at regional airports which aren't too demanding. FSX settings - 3/5ths of max. FSX used to run smoother on my older monitors so I figured the addons I use are not responsible. If you say it is a stutter, perhaps there are entries I could add to fsx.cfg?
Mark Hurst Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I can lower the FSX res if you suggest so, if that causes the problem. I believed it would make no difference to FSX Try turning off anti-aliasing* and see if it become smooth again. If it does, you need to change your AA settings to find an acceptable compromise. (Yes, you could reduce your resolution but it seems wrong to buy such a cool monitor and then throttle it.) If it doesn't, there's probably something else wrong. (*Whether you can do this from within FSX will depend on how you have the 'anti-aliasing mode' parameter set in nvidia control panel.) MarkH
