HoggyDog
I purchased EZdok from Flight1 a couple of months ago, and have never been able to make it work in my FSX:SE installation. Specifically: I am unable to create a working World Camera that doesn't end up at 30,000 feet over some oceanThe four Arrow keys and PgUp/PgDn (EZdok camera-movement controls) don't workThe joystick-hat Pan control doesn't work I have read, and submitted help requests on, the Flight1/EZdok support forums: World Camera malfunction threadArrow/PgUp/PgDn key failure thread The first thing that is apparent from the avove forums is that these problems are widespread and not unique to the Steam Edition- most of the people citing these problems are using boxed FSX. The second thing that is apparent is that nobody, including the developers of EZdok, has a solution for the issues. Thirdly, the devs seem to have just given up, based on the lack of recent replies by anyone other than more disgruntled users saying "me too" on the support forums, plus the lack of any new Beta release beyond 1.18.6, the one I purchased months ago. I am not using TrackIR, so that's one known complication eliminated. Has anyone managed to get EZdok to work with FSX:SE, including working World Cameras and fully-functional arrow keys, PgUp/PgDn keys and joystick-hat panning control? If so, how did you do it? i7-10700K @3.8-5.1GHz, 32GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM, GTR-2060 Super 8GB, 2x SSDs
evm
Uh, yes, I did. No problem here. Can't help you with the world cam, I never used that one. But the normal viewing system just works But as to 'how' I don't know if I can be of use, because it worked from day one (I migrated over from an existing FSX boxed installation). The only things "special" I did are the following: - I'm using a registered version of FSUIPC for everything, so all controllers are disabled in my FSX by default (that includes hat switches and the like - I unchecked the whole setting "Enable controllers") - I deleted every control binding in FSX pertaining to the viewing system. Every single one that had anything with "look" or "view" or "pan" in it plus the category and camera switches. (in fact I deleted almost all the key bindings there are, I'm using external controllers and need them elsewhere) That is about it. Set up the joystick and buttons in EZCA and made sure that "POV" is active for my camera. The camera moves with the arrow and page keys plus the middle-mouse-button combo. A bit of theory I figured out when fiddling with SimConnect the other day: EZCA is a single stand alone application that uses SimConnect to set the camera positon and viewpoint in FSX (you should see the console output of SimConnect when EZCA is running...). It does not 'hack' into the guts of FSX in any way. So, if control inputs do not reach EZCA that can only mean that some other program grabbed them first, most probably FSX itself. As users can freely configure what happens with control inputs in their sim, there is nothing the EZCA developer (AFAIK one guy) can do about it. btw I am using TrackIR and it is no complication at all. Quite the opposite, I wouldn't know what to do with the thing without EZDOK.
