DETA Flight 011 is a de Havilland DH0104 DoveHavilland DH-1-4 DoveH flying from Beira, Mozambique to Lindi, Tanganyika Territory (FQBR - HTLI). We have 1900 gallons of fuel on board for the six hundred fifty nine mile flight. The total flight time is about 4 hours and 7 minutes. The weather for most of the flight is for scattered cloud cover, but there is a chance for thunderstorms early in the flight. We will be cruising at an altitude of 9,000 feet.

10. About 330 miles into the flight and still in rough weather. We consider putting down at the airport in the small city of Gurúè, but figure our chance of finding it in this weather is slim to none. We continue on.

11. The static on the radio has cleared somewhat and we have contact with the airport at Montepuez. We calculate that we are about 190 miles from Lindi. We press on.
