Hi,

I am having trouble installing UK2000 scenery into the FSX:SE. It says it has completed then I start game and it isn't there. Can someone tell me the three folder links on installation please?

Kind Regards

Josh

UK2000 usually installs into C drive, did it ask where FSX Steam is installed when you installed the scenery? If it did ask for the path to FSX you need to tell UK2000 where FSX is, usually C\ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ FSX.

FSX:SE compatibility.

Whenever you are going to use an automated installer program rather than extracting zip files yourself, you need to visit the web site of the product developer or ask around before running the installer. SE directories are different than standard FSX boxed so unless the vendor has made an installer SPECIFICALLY for SE, it will put the files in the wrong location and call it good.

In other words, when you see people talk about FSX:SE compatibility, what's really being talked about is does a product's automatic installer KNOW how SE version files are structured, can DISCOVER if your sim is SE or not, and does it install to the right location? Will an add-on WORK is really not the main question since SE is essentially FSX Gold.

Will the add-on install to the right place so it an work is really the main issue. Installers are hard coded to provide a one solution for everyone kind of task and are not as smart as people think they are. At least, when created, the author of an installer created over a year ago probably did not accommodate SE or even know how.

If you were sharp and could find where the installer mistakenly put stuff, and knew if the installation created any file or registry paths to their stuff, there is a good chance you could "fix" it without running some custom installer which doesn't exist by moving these files around and editing some text.

...it will put the files in the wrong location...

Correct, but it's only scenery. It's allowed to be installed anyware, even on seperate disk drives. IMO the only thing to do is locate where the installer has dropped the folders/files and add them to the scenery library.

Just keep the "UK 2000 Common Files" at lowest priority.
