Overclock changes after shutdown.

Recommended Posts

Don't know what I am missing here. I have a i5-2500k which I can OC to 4.5 Ghz no problem. It will stay at that setting until I do a windows update or perhaps if I shut my computer off, then it reverts back to the original clock speed of 3.3. It's been 4 years since I built the system and don't remember having this problem. Fresh install of the MB software and W7 SP1.

Is there a setting in the MB that I have missed. I just change the frequency and save the settings and exit the bios.

Specs are in my signature.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not posting what I thought may be the answer. Since there were no responses to my post I assumed that no one had the same problem. I did a Google search and found what I thought was a solution, but it sometimes still occurs but not as often. If you go to control panel and change the power options from balanced to performance, it seems to work 90 % of the time.
