Military Forward Air Control - Australia's Major Contribution

By Frank's MS Flight Sim

Australia, through the Australian Royal Flying Corps in WW1, but mainly through the Royal Australian Air Force in New Guinea in WW2, spear-headed the initial development of, what is today called, Forward Air Control (FAC) for the precise and safe application of close air support. Come see the history of how this happened, while flying a range of different aircraft in MSFS. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

About Frank's MS Flight Sim

I am an avid recreational pilot and flight simmer. Now retired, my career was in airport engineering, and engineering education and training. I use MSFS to practice aspects of my real-life recreational flying, and to make YouTube videos to share on all aspects of aviation such as: heritage/vintage flights, airfields and aircraft; bush/outback/back-country/mountain/water airstrips; aircraft accident investigations; scenic locations; wars; etc. I make a new video every 7 to 10 days. I provide brief, interesting information, often with history, geography, maps, pictures etc, and great places to fly in MSFS. As an avid, curious life-long learner, my focus is on interesting content. Hope you enjoy watching as much as I do producing. Cheers.

Thoroughly enjoyed this unsung part of history.

In 1949 the USMC built on the lessons learned throughout WW2 in the Pacific and formed Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Companies (ANGLICO).

This Marine salutes the early AFRC pioneers to this important and critical support for ground forces.

Well done, Bravo Zulu.

Always Aviate, then Navigate, then Communicate. And never be low on Fuel, Altitude, Airspeed, or Ideas.
