Era Late 1950s Sunset Commuter Take Off From KDCA

Recommended Posts

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Here is a nice typical late 1950 era sunset commuter flight take off from KDCA Washington National airport in Arlington County, Virginia 3 miles south of downtown Washington, D.C. for shuttle flight to KLGA LaGuardia Airport in NYC.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

How beautiful!

Until this moment, I never knew that Electras had a green light on their nose gear struts... I know that the Electra-derivative P3s I remember from my Navy days did not have a green light there... Now I have to go look that up and find out what it was for!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful shots!

Actually it is aircraft.cfg's programming malfunction that makes front landing gear wheels' lights flash red and green like Christmas. Cannot figure out how to fix it. LOL
