Something about Simviation.....

Whenever I would go around and find a file to download from Simviation, I see some old school files that say

June 23, 2008, by Archive.

What does that say, what happened there, was it somewhat like the AVSIM hack?

It probably means that at some point they changed the file submission process, so that files after that date include information on who exactly uploaded them, while files before that date do not.

Not sure what you mean? I use Simviation for the HJG and don't see anything that says that. 

Can you give an example or two?

Oh! There could be a little database for the Time of each file, so there may be a chance of bring back the time of when they were uploaded. But damn Nel, little Interesting!

Even here many older files are now shown as submitted by "Flightsim".

Which is because of the scenario I suggested for the other site.

 

When files were moved into the new system used now, that database had fields in it that the old database did not have. One of those fields was "submitted by" and by default was filled in with "Flightsim". As new people submit files, that new field gets used as intended and in some cases older files have been edited to the correct value instead of the default.
