Gooney Goes Gustave!

I saw a note about a repaint of Manfred Jahn's C-47 v2 called "Silver Bird" so I decided to get the airplane and the repaint. After struggling to finally figure out that the author of the Silver Bird repaint's Readme file meant "aircraft.cfg" when he wrote "FLIGHT CONFIG" and that the sound callout "sound=TW" referred to a non-existent sound file or folder, I finally got airplane and repaint to "play nice" together, added brake squeal and flight datastrip and sallied forth to poke holes in some random clouds.

After herding the 79-year-old collection of loosely-organized rivets and baling wire around the sky for a while without anything falling off, I decided it was time...

TIME TO DROP A GOONEY BIRD INTO ST. BARTHS!

I've been using Shadowplay for video captures because of its barely-discernible effect on frame rate and its direct-to-MP4 output files, but tonight's "Excellent Adventure" produced so many stutters, hiccups, audio skips and out-of-synch audio that I disabled Shadowplay immediately after publishing this video. I'll probably re-vidcap this epic flight using FRAPS because if I don't, the anomalies in this video will haunt me forever.

EDIT to add: I just remade this using Fraps and some new scenery, it came out much better. Check it out!

So without further ado, here's the flight:

Nice video!

Here is where you can get that (non-existent sound file or folder) it is a add-on for this aircraft.

You will find it at Sim-Outhouse

OK, thank you for that info! :D

I just installed the TW sound package, and it's definitely a great improvement. I especially like the clattering and ticking as the engines wind down when you pull the mixture- I've never heard that before in any FSX package. Usually the engine sound just stops abruptly as soon as you pull the mixture to cut-off, but this new sound package makes the engines sound much more realistic. Now the engines sound as good as the Silver Bird N90079 repaint looks, which is VERY good! :)

It is a great sound package, Ted (TuFun) really put in a lot of work to get the sounds just right there is a new KC-97 that Manfred has put on-line at SOH, with a sound package by Ted it looks to be the next big freeware add-on check it out.

I'll be doing more re-paints and working on a panel upgrade with GPWS built into the main VC and traffic radar upgrade.

Have you ever seen a C-47 repaint that looked like this?

I have searched everywhere and I haven't been able to find any Ethiopian Air Lines repaints for a C-47 or DC-3.
