MiG-21 Not Accelerating

Hi,

Downloaded & copied the MiG-21M & MF designed by Flusinreiner (http://www.flightx.de/). The plane looks amazing except it's not moving when I apply full power (F4).

I read the readme txt file provided, tried to balance the load as well as the fuel but it's just not moving. This is what the txt file says:

"When incorrect loading, no droptank, but with fuel for External1 (droptank "body" station), External2 (droptank "left out" + "right out" station), the thrust lever blocks in IDLE mode."

When inside the plane, can't even see the thrust lever as the panel is very basic.

In case someone has gone through this and help me figure out the problem, that'd be amazing.

Thank you so much!

I'm having a bit of trouble finding the download for this aircraft. Do you have a direct link?

Is there no throttle lever in the 2D panel or virtual cockpit?

If not, edit the panel to add a throttle gauge.

The way I understand the text you quated is that when you have fuel loaded in the External1 and External2 tanks you must also load weight elsewhere to represent the droptank itself.

If you don't then you are 'cheating' and will not be allowed to move the throttle forward.

But that is an educated guess.

Hello,

In the aircraft.cfg you must edit this

[fuel]

// for -aft, rihgt -left, up -down, Volume

Center1= 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 726.5

//External1= 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 129.5, body

//External2= 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 259.0, left + right //alternate for right & left Aux for correct fuel management

fuel_type=2.000000

number_of_tank_selectors=1

electric_pump=1

Enable or disable (//) the different fuel location !!

Hope it's help

I had a quick look at it and it seems to be as I suspected.

The aircraft can have droptanks on the outer pylons and below the fuselage.

These are available as the External1 (fuselage) and External2 (outer pylons) tanks.

(notice that External2 has twice the capacity of External1)

What is shown on a pylon depends on the weight of a corresponding payload station.

To put a droptank on the outer pylons or under the fuselage you must put 105 lbs in the appropriate station.

In this way the mass of the fuel and the mass of the tanks are seperate.

If you load the fuel without attaching a tank you would have an impossible configuration and thus the throttle would be locked at idle.

The problem with the default fuel and payload is that it fills all the tanks but puts something other than droptanks on the outer pylons.

If you adjust the fuel and payload so that there is either no fuel in the external tanks or that there is the correct weight on the appropriate pylons it works fine.

Rather than edit out the external tanks you could also change the aircraft.cfg so that the outer pylons come with a droptank by default:

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]
reference_datum_position=0.00000,0.000000,0.000000
empty_weight_CG_position=0.00000,0.000000,0.000000
empty_weight=13337.966862
empty_weight_roll_MOI=57582.00
empty_weight_pitch_MOI=100000.00
empty_weight_yaw_MOI=20522.00
empty_weight_coupled_MOI=0.00
max_gross_weight=20723.452645
CG_forward_limit=0.000
CG_aft_limit=0.000

max_number_of_stations=50 // Wight, for -aft, rihgt -left, up -down
station_load.0=    231,   0.00,  -8.33,  -1.40, left out
station_load.1=    227,   0.00,  -6.15,  -1.40, left in
station_load.2=    106,   0.00,   0.00,  -2.94, body
station_load.3=    227,   0.00,   6.15,  -1.40, right in
station_load.4=    231,   0.00,   8.33,  -1.40, right out

Or just do it manually each time you start a flight.

Or, you could use a different panel (ie:would eliminate the 'throttle_xml' 'control' that is preventing you from using the throttle 'unless xyz condition is met' (which is 'neat', but can be a 'headache', too). There is always something 'new' to learn, I guess. Especially with 'Russian' airplanes. Cheesh.

These 'xml' gauges COULD be set up where you have to throw 20 switches, in a certain order, providing you have your seat belt 'ON', and only between 5 am and 6 am, and only on Tuesday and Thursdays, if it ain't raining, and the temp is 40 C or higher, just to start the engines. I said 'COULD' be. And xml is not 'native' to the Sim (any Sim) but which can be 'worked into' it (Sim) thru the panel(s) when used as a gauge. To me this is a 'danger' to my flying and avoid those (especially 'beta') panels with a passion.

The perpetrator is in fact 'correct payload.xml' ;)

Whether using gauges (xml or C) to add features is a good idea would depend on what you want to add.

In this case it is used to force the user to comply with some loadout rules that the sim itself cannot do.

It would be if they installed 2 'auxillary' (10 gallon each) gas tanks and then the car wouldn't start if those tanks were full. That is Kinda foolish, if you ask me.
