jrdale210
Having been very quickly impressed by the article on FSiPanel, I purchased the Standard edition to check it out. Some of my first impressions --- great potential for those of us that might be wanting to get more practice at serious IFR flying and using an FMC. My very first try resulted in the airliner going directly into a spin, so I then thought "oh wait how about the golden rule RTFM" so I actually read the manual. Next time I was unsure at what point into an MSFS flight to activate FSIPanel as the manual does not seem to be MSFS2020 specific and is very vague on that, (I have sent in to the designer a question). So I opened a flight plan into EGCC and then started FSiP and asked it to beam me up to long final. According to LNavMap I was showing to be on Finals but in fact I was over an open Ocean. SO I have sent a query in and at present as much as I see the potential of this program, I feel the website and Navdata (to which I do subscribe) needed to do some MSFS2020 specific Youtube videos instead of a rushed release as soon as the program was coded for MSFS2020. Now I accept it may be all due to my stupidity but the instructions do not say anywhere that I found about where you should be in MSFS2020 or indeed even if it needs to be opened first (I assume so). So some more specific videos would really help us amateurs. I have not used any this add-on in any of the other simulators where it has been available for some time so would appreciate some babying into MSFS2020. Overall I am quite excited to access the range of options and the number of aircraft it will work with so I am certainly keeping it and hoping for some answers soon. If anyone else is having better luck with it do let me know where and how you start from within MSFS. FYI I am using Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo with the program and could love to hear if anyone else is doing the same. jrdale210
J-P answered me right away and showed me that you just program MSFS to have your plane on the runway at the airport you with to practice approaches, then run through the simple setup and after you hold the brakes you are flying the approach. Lovely to have that option to be beamed up to a random point and practice approaches. Also very nice to know the designer cares about you getting it to function correctly. So I do look forward to a couple of videos specifically done on MSFS2020 but can strongly recommend this option as value for money.
