Joystick FS 2004

Recommended Posts

I am contemplating a move from my yoke to a joystick. The CH Products yoke has served me well for many years but a joystick would provide me with better access to my keyboard as well as simulating "fly by wire" technology evident in some modern a/c.

I have prior to the yoke, used a Logitech Wingman joystick but found it did not meet my expectations. One feature that I found annoying was inadvertent movement of the base while resting on the desk.

Is there a joystick (USB) that can be clamped to the desk similar to the yoke mounting?

Thank you

I don't know of a joystick that uses clamps like yokes do. You might have to go the Velcro on the base/ tabletop route, although some of the new joysticks come with a pretty heavy base. I'm using a Thrustmaster HOTAS X and it seems to work pretty well.

Hope this helps!

I never had pedals. Yet I fly everything. Here are 2 pics showing my setup. Always ready to fly, yet never 'in the way' and can go surf, use keyboard for emails, etc. Does not use up any of my (actual) desktop. Been that way for 10 yrs and would not do it any other way. Joy is MS Sidewinder 2 (or Pro?) which is also 10 yrs old-still works like new.

I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro; it has a large flat base which is quite steady, but a single C-clamp on one corner will secure it tightly to the desk. At $30, shipping included, it is the best joystick purchase I've ever made (especially in light of those $100+ programmable joysticks of W95 days); six years old now and still looks and works like new.
