lefu
hi I kept thinking about this comment i wrote to https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?287447-If-there-s-ever-going-to-be-a-new-MSFS-what-would-you-like-to-see and wonder if any of you have noticed this. Lets go with this situation: You start a flight, clear skies or good wather, from the moment you put the throtles untill the moment you get to cruise level there has been no big change in grass color or terrain color. its still "very green". This is something that does not make part of real life flying. for exemple, The same golf course where you have been playing for hours will not look the same color from 30 thousand feet. do you guys agree ? So how come we dont have that in FSX ? i mean, do a search like "FSX / real life" and you'll see that difference in grass color from high altitudes. The more i think of this the more i find its one of the FSX things i hate, i mean.. from high altitudes the terrain looks like a real animated cartoon.. I downloaded two different freeware addons for FSX a while ago "treexx" and the other one wich's name i dont remember. I thought they will make the difference, but no results.. so am i right ? or am i going through a temporary daltonism here .. boomtisqwerty
I just recently tried going from FS9 back to FSX and I hated the grass textures compared to FS9 ones. These textures pushed me back away from FSX to FS9 again. I do know what you mean  You might want to have a look at this, http://drzewiecki-design.net/prodDD_GrassX.htm It's freeware and looks pretty good. I haven't tried it so I will leave the judgment call of good or bad to you (if you do try it). Thanks, Ryan
lefu
Its still has no effect while on altitude. lnuss
The color "difference" you see under those conditions is due to lighting changes, atmospheric haze, etc. FSX doesn't do that very well. You may find colors that are more to your liking, but it's unlikely you'll find something that changes as you seem to expect. FSX does have its limitations. P3D might do better (I'm guessing), with its improvements in lighting, but that's not something I'm likely to notice, since I rarely get more than 3000-4000 AGL. Larry N. I understand we can not expect fsx to do that but at least have a couple of texture files for above 10000. i can live with that.. il88pp
Aime leclerqe offers texture set's for spring, summer, fall and winter. I don't think it creates the low/high difference you asked for, but they do make things look more natural. Make a backup of the original textures first. lefu
my issue is only a low/high altitude texture change, its not tomorrow that a developer will look for that :( thanks to you all for your help FSX ACCELERATION, ASUS P5QPL VM EPU-INTEL E8400-3GHZ-DDR2RAM4GO-WINDOWS7SP1 -GT220GEFORCE if you never wonder about something, its because you know everything....
ScatterbrainKid
..from high altitudes the terrain looks like a real animated cartoon.. If you mean too bright and colourful like this.. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/sub2/FSX-vis-Unlim_zpskk1jfecj.jpg~original ..try going to World> Weather> Customize> Visibility, and throwing a bit of haze into the pic with the Visibility slider. The pic above is 'Unlimited' vis, but this below is '30 miles' visibility, see the difference? (I use 30 miles most of the time) http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/sub2/FSX-vis-30m_zpsyx4tjr3j.jpg~original And this below is '10 miles' visibility. You can reduce it even further if you want to make it like a thick fog- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/sub2/FSX-vis-10m_zps3r6klxhm.jpg~original

We can clearly see the diference between the terrain colors. http://www.aviationwa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/20141114_VH-TBM_SOCATA_TBM900_near_Mandurah_David_Eyre-1.jpg http://www.pcaviator.com/store/images/D/FSALTAUSssLarge5893.jpg In real life the grass color gets darker as you gain altitude AGL.
