Downwind66
From what I understand, American Airlines never had a 747 in their fleet? I could be wrong, but maybe she is going "incognito?" She looks good, no matter what she wears for the occasion!!! Rick :cool:
Rupert
Looking good Rick!! According to Wikipedia, which isn't always correct, American had 21 747s. Having said that, I don't recall seeing one myself. Therefore I have no idea what the livery looked like. Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow. Downwind66
Looking good Rick!! According to Wikipedia, which isn't always correct, American had 21 747s. Michael You know, Michael, I might have mis-understood the download (wherever I found it), it just may have said they never had a 747 with the new livery! I did look on Google and, yes, American was one of the first airlines to receive the 747's and one of the first airlines to replace them with the 777. So, I will stand corrected on what my original post says! I am a big fan of the new livery of American Airlines and when I saw this one, I could not wait to download it. Here's what led me astray????? These textures are for the payware PMDG B747-400 and 747-8 expansion pack. They depict the PMDG 747s in the 2013 American Airlines livery, which is fictional because American does not operate either 747. Several corrections were made to the first version and the -400 model is now in high definition (2048x2048). They were created using the official PMDG paint kits, and all three engine choices are included in one texture folder for the -400 model. By Matt Smith. Thanks for sharing that info with me Michael! Rupert
I agree, that logo is much nicer than what they used for years. Only flew American once I can recall. It was on a 707 in 1964. Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
Downwind66
Yes, Michael. With more reading, I found that the last American 747 was retired in December of 1994. The download that I posted was the 747-8i which didn't leave the ground until Feb of 2010, and that was with Luthansa, American didn't have any 747's at that time, as they went to the 777's which replaced their 747 fleet. The new livery they say came in 2013. Yes, I do like the new livery. I do have a Boeing 767 in the old bare metal and red livery. It's nice too!
