Default Boeing 747-400 Sound.cfg?

Hi All,

I just installed a freeware sound upgrade to for the Default FSX Boeing 747 and I must admit that I failed to read the Readme this time because I thought I remembered how to reinstall this particular set of files. Guess not. Basically what I did was exactly what the readme says not to do which is to overwrite the text in the existing sound.cfg files. Now, not only do the new items not appear in Aircraft Selection screen but the 747 is now completely silent.

I'm not asking for anything illegal, but could someone please give me an idea of what text should be in the 747-400 sound.cfg? I saw someone copied their Aircraft.cfg in the forum but all I need is the sound.

Much thanks,

Flyboy.

UPDATE: Oh No.. it's the dreaded FATAL ERROR crash. Guess I'll have to reinstall from scratch :(!

Before you re-install check your Event Viewer and report the faulting module.

Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events.

One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area.

Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting.

Below is just an example of what you will see!

General Tab:

Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14

Faulting module name: This is what we need to Know!

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x0000ee3a

Faulting process id: 0x748

Faulting application start time: 0x01ce0253dc4b69d4

Faulting application path: R:\FSX\fsx.exe

Faulting module path: R:\FSX\window.dll

Report Id: 9caf77b4-6e50-11e2-8570-3085a99825d1

If there is not one listed:

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000,

you will need to do as previously noted

No Faulting Module? ->

Remove all of the add-ons, and test the sim. If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test.

Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next

Thank you for your guidance Mrzippy, but I already reinstalled everything. Unfortunately, the 747-400 (Default) files remain corrupted. The sound pack I downloaded is featured in the Flightsim File Library. It shows up in my Downloads file as "1sound_boeing_747_400".

The authors are Emil Serafino Jr and Ismail Zayan Shakeeb. The file is a sound pack containing Pratt and Whitney PW4062 engine sounds as well as General Electric CF6-80C2B5F.

I know this has been asked before, but is there a way I can extract the correct files for 747-400 Default off the FSX Discs? I have Deluxe Edition and performing a Repair on the files appears to be the cause of the Fatal Error Crash.

Thanks for all your help everyone!

stock repair answer:

The biggie with a Repair is any default file, including those default aircraft.cfgs with added liveries, that have been modified, tweaked, or otherwise changed, will be returned to default status.

You can make a copy of your existing FSX folder before the repair and paste those individual files back in afterwards.

IMPORTANT:

Acceleration Repair only fixes what the Acceleration expansion pack modifies/adds. It will not repair core FSX files.

If you have SP1, SP2, or Acceleration installed, they will have to be uninstalled before a repair attempt, and reinstalled, after the repair, or it won't work.

Once you have your FSX up and running properly again, back it up, all of it.

You may need it again and it's a lot easier than a Repair or Re-Install.

Could not find the sound file you downloaded. Please provide a filename.zip

Can I assume this is the file? sndboe74.zip

Did you remove the SP's before you tried the repair? I made that mistake once and also got the fatal errors.

If the file I mentioned in Post# 7 was the one, then the proper procedure to install would be:

1. Rename the original sound folder to something like sound_original.

2. Place both the new sound and sound.PW folders into the 747 folder.

3. Copy the 3 new [Fltsim.xx] into your aircraft.cfg file and change the xx to the next number in order.

4. Now you have a combination of 747s with the new sounds both PW4062 and CF680C2B5F

Sorry, MrZippy. The Sound file is actually from Simviation.com. The filename is 1sndcfm56.zip.

I will attempt to uninstall FSX Accel. Then repair the files to see if the 747 can be restored. I don't know why I'm making such a big deal out of not being able to fly the 747.. I usually prefer fighter jets to airliners anyway :P.

Where's my "Bang Head Here Sign?? Why in the name of "Holy House on fire" would you try to put in 737-400 FS2004 sound files for your default 747? This has none of the 747 engines or developers you mentioned in post# 6?????

Search Results for "1sndcfm56.zip" > Page 1

A: I didn't try to put 737 sounds to a 747.

B: I may have accidentally typed 7-3-7 when I meant 7-4-7.

Hey man, relax. Zip was trying to show you may have downloaded a file that's not compatible with FSX.

But if you want to take your leave, then have a nice day.

Thanks, partner! This guy seemed to change his story with every post! Probably didn't want to confess to what he really downloaded! (My guess, at least)

A: The file name you provided, 1sndcfm56.zip, is a defacto 737 sound set.

B: 1sndcfm56.zip isn't even close to being a typo.

C: Break given.

Later on in the thread you presume the fatal error is probably caused by a faulty repair. I'm having trouble with the fact you already did a REPAIR at this stage ? Only thing to do at this point was an edit of the 747 sound.cfg IMO.

The actions you took, and the sequence of those, are very hard to trace from your answers. And they're confusing. Makes me think you maybe haven't told them all either.

Hard to solve a problem this way...
