REDDAIR Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 For those of you old enough to remember...Eastern Flight 401was a newsworthy story in December 1972. The new L-1011 was involved in a fatal crash in the Florida Everglades. It was the period after the crash which became very interesting, Numerous Eastern Airline employees and several passengers saw the ghosts of both the captain and flight engineer on other later Eastern Flights. This link is an interesting short description of that: http://www.near-death.com/ghosts.html Now, over 40 years later, it might be interesting if someone created a FSX aircraft with ghostly attributes?! Anyway, this 401 story to me is one of the most bizarre afterlife cases I ever read about regarding ghosts. I recall all the attention it got in the media and thought it might be of interest to readers here... Back then, I thought it was probably hyped up. But back then, you did not really hear all the detail, which can be looked up today on the web. JR
mstang67 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 That's a pretty interesting read. We actually just watched a documentary on this crash 2 days ago in my Aviation Safety class at Central Oregon Community College. While I'm not necessarily a believer in ghosts, I definitely don't rule anything out after experiencing some strange things. If ghosts are real, I see no reason why this wouldn't happen. If I was to ever make some critical error that caused pain and suffering to others, it would be nice to think I could return and help protect against it. Hope I never do. Swoop Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I Read the book back in the early 80' when i was an air courier for Purolator in the u.k . I Remember at one point i was on a Swiss Air D9 from Heathrow to Zurich in very turbulent weather reading this next to a guy who asked me politely to not read that wile i was next to him . You can get the book at Amazon or some where , it's called The Ghost Of Flight 401 written by John G. Fuller . "Pilots do it with Thrust"
