Pyt02 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 GoodMorning everyone, I state that I think to possess a quite good PC: - Intel I7 processor until 4.5 GHz - 8 Gb RAM - Nvidia GeForce 1050 Ti FSX, with a medium-high graphics, can arrive to 50 FPS more or less, but this isn't the problem; the problem is that the game won't be enough fluid unless the FPS arrive at a minimum of 60. And this is a rather strange situations, because I can see that the game is jerky, also at 50 FPS, even if, for instance, the images projected on TV very often are at 25-30 FPS. Needless to say that I've deactivated all energy savings and that my Video Card works perfectly, even because i bought this PC 2 weeks ago. Is there a solutions for this strange problem? Thanks very much in advance. Pietro
lnuss Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Did you try limiting your FPS to 25 or 30? Keep in mind that FSX is very demanding on a computer, and each additional frame it renders in a given time period takes time/resources that otherwise would go into filling in details in the scene, so that might be at least part of your problem. Pyt02 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Hi Larry, thanks for the reply. Anyway yes, I've already limited my FPS and now I can play steadily at 30 FPS more or less but this problem persists and and I continue to have these annoying lags, even staying above "minimum" FPS. :(
Skywatcher12 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 You mean jerky not lags right? Different things. Mark Daniels
Pyt02 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 You mean jerky not lags right? Different things. Yes, I'm sorry, I meant Jerky. Sorry for my english :)
Skywatcher12 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Leave it on 30fps for a week and don't touch it. See if in a week it looks jerky, it won't. FPS are totally misunderstood. I don't think of the 1,000+ explanations there must be on flight sim forums, I've never read an accurate one. Mark Daniels
lnuss Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 One other consideration is to possibly try lower settings in the sim, to further reduce it's workload. However I'd also think about which aircraft cause the most problems, since certain aircraft require a lot more system resources than some other aircraft do. Traffic and weather settings, as well as the scenery settings themselves can also have their effects. These things can sometimes cause a bit of jerkiness, even though the frame rates themselves seem pretty good. Note that even graphics card settings, both for the card itself and the parameters for the card within the sim may have effects to some degree. And it's possible that the DX10 preview mode, if you're using it, can have odd effects. The above are just additional thoughts about possibilities, and are in no sense definitive. Larry N. Pyt02 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Use a computer monitor, not a tv. Yes, I'm using a computer monitor. At the beginning, I was only saying that normal TV programmes often are transmitted at 25 FPS and, since on FSX my FPS are stable at 30, I don't understand the cause of these Jerky images.
dogdish Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Use a computer monitor, not a tv. That has no bearing on the "fluidity" issue. I use a 65" 1080 Progressive scan TV with a DVI digital input and it works just as well as my smaller computer monitor. Misconception is 25fps on tv and 25fps in computer graphics are the same in regards to smoothness, they are NOT. People who suggest there is no point setting FS on anything other than 25fps because you won't see a difference wrongly believe this as well. I don't want to type a 10,000 word post explaining it all. If you do what I suggested in my first post, you will have a smooth FSX. If you keep changing back and forth from 30-60fps you will not. Running FS at 25 or 30fps is a very good idea. I would recommend it to all. Mark Daniels
p14u2nv Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 I assume you haven't turned up and went wild with the sliders? If so throttle them back to a reasonable setting. Then advance settings gradually and test. I also wonder what else may be be running in the background and may possibly be taking power away from the sim? i7 8086K @ 5.2 GHz, H115i Pro Cooler, GIGABYTE Z370 Gaming 7, 8GB GeForce GTX 1080, 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3200Mhz, 250GB SAMSUNG 970 M.2, 500GB SAMSUNG 970 M.2, 1TB WD Black, EVGA 650watt SuperNOVA G3 80+ GOLD, Corsair Black Obsidian Series 750D case, LG Ext Blu-ray/CD/DVD, Win 10 64bit, Samsung 32” Odyssey G70B 4K IPS 144Hz G-Sync
W2DR Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 One other thing you may want to look at is RAM. 8GB doesn't go very far these days and if the OS is hitting the pagefile that, too, will cause things to be a bit jerky..........Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.0 Ghz, Asus Maxumus XII Hero MB, Noctua NH-U12A Cooler, Corsair Vengence Pro 32GB 3200Mhz, Geforce RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, and other good stuff.
