ColR1948
I made a water base for my seaplanes, I've made a few in the past but this one I made a mistake that turned out to be good in a way. The mistake I made was I set the altitude of the base slightly too high, I tried it out with an AI amphibian that had wheels down, but you couldn't see them because they were under water, course on takeoff you could see them but only for a few seconds then they retracted. This gave me an idea, I made an AI flight plan for it to takeoff from this water base then fly to a land base, so in effect it took off from the water and flew to a land airfield. In the past when I've used amphibians as AI I've changed the contact points so they sit lower in the water to hide the wheels, but in doing so when using them on land they are too low, but this mistake made it so I could use it on both without altering the points. I have tried a trip from waterbase to waterbase and the gear was lasting down. happy landings! Christian:pilot: Intel i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHZ, 4 Kerne, 16 GB MSI RX 480; M. ColR1948
Hi Christian, does the CL215 keep it's gear down anyway, a lot of Amphibians raise the gear after takeoff? Col.
Flattermann
Great Col, no, I tried the same as you made and it works great. I don't know why the first flightplan (waterbase to waterbase) run that the gear allways was down. I used the new CL215. But I set the altitude of the base slightly not too high but too low ;) happy landings! Christian:pilot: Intel i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHZ, 4 Kerne, 16 GB MSI RX 480; M. ColR1948
Yes I should have said that, not too high but low, I wasn't thinking straight. If it is set slightly low the the parked aircraft will sit low in the water covering the wheels, the trick is not to set it too low or the aircraft will sink further down and it wouldn't look right lol. Flattermann
OK, I am glad you found this solution. I try in the FSdeveloper forum to solve the other CL-215 problem (with the square props) happy landings! Christian:pilot: Intel i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHZ, 4 Kerne, 16 GB MSI RX 480; M.
