IPW
Hi Folks, I have just started flying David Maltby's Comet 4 - the FSX compatible version. Really nice model but have one problem. While the VOR/DME combinations work fine, I cannot get the ILS gauge to work at all. The DME still works on ILS frequencies but nothing else. I found some old posts on another site which said that the problem could be solved by putting the ILS Frequency on both Nav 1 and Nav 2 - but did not change a thing for me. Can anyone help? Thanks Ian
fxsttcb
Check the aircraft.cfg: [Radios] // Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope Audio.1 = 1 Com.1 = 1, 1 Com.2 = 1, 1 Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1 Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0 Adf.1 = 1 Transponder.1 = 1 Marker.1 = 1 You can also enable a glideslope on Nav 2/VOR 2 by changing the "0" to a "1"...Don HAF 932 Adv, PC P&C 950w, ASUS R4E,i7-3820 5.0GHz(MCR320-XP 6 fans wet), GTX 970 FTW 16GB DDR3-2400, 128GB SAMSUNG 830(Win 7 Ult x64), 512GB SAMSUNG 840 Pro(FSX P3D FS9) WD 1TB Black(FS98, CFS2&3, ROF, etc.), WD 2TB Black-(Storage/Backup) Active Sky Next, Rex4 TD/Soft Clouds
IPW
Hi Don, Thanks for the guidance. But sadly the existing aircraft.cfg [Radios] does not look at all like what you show. I have: // Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope Audio.1=1 Com.1=1, 0 Com.2=1, 0 Nav.1=1, 0, 1 Nav.2=1, 0, 1 Adf.1=1 Adf.2=1 Transponder.1=1 Marker.1=1 I changed the values to what you showed and all that happened was that I was unable to change Nav or Com frequencies. Any other ideas? Thank you. Ian
StringBean
You can also enable a glideslope on Nav 2/VOR 2 by changing the "0" to a "1"...Don ...assuming that the VOR2 gauge has a glide slope indicator, most do not. I just wanted it to be clear that editing the aircraft.cfg will not change the gauge. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. StringBean
I changed the values to what you showed and all that happened was that I was unable to change Nav or Com frequencies. That is due to the fact that when you changed the zeros to ones you told FS that the radios have standby frequencies, which they do not. Change them back to zeros to fix this. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. f16jockey_2
I found some old posts on another site which said that the problem could be solved by putting the ILS Frequency on both Nav 1 and Nav 2 - but did not change a thing for me. Trouble with this thread is, it's being mislead from the start IMO. Your original [radios] section was OK, I have the same over here. To engage the ILS, you have to hit the GLIDE button, not the BEAM button (which will light automatically when hitting GLIDE btw). Think that's where the problem is. Off topic: dunno why the NAV2 radio has glidescope capacity, and what the posters "on another site" were talking about, as the documentation clearly states "The autopilot will only use the NAV1 radio as input for the BEAM & GLIDE functions." StringBean
Off topic: dunno why the NAV2 radio has glidescope capacity... It does not, it has glideslope capacity. As to why it has glideslope capacity, a little thing we like to call redundancy. As for Otto not using NAV2, some of us actually hand fly these things. ;) peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? IPW
Thanks Everyone, Solved - by sort of chance. I re-read the manual again and found this: 'Note that this indicator (ILS) only displays information from the opposite NAV radio to the one selected on the SFS Radio selector (centre panel).' Once I found that little selector it sort of made sense: i.e. Put SFS on Nav 1 (Left) and tune the ILS on Nav 2. Easy really - if you have a very confused notion of order in the world :-(. I am sorry for wasting your time. Ian
