tree library ?

You need object placement programs like, e.g. the (freeware) RWY12 and/or the (payware) Abacus EZ program. As soon as you have either (or both) of these you will already have many standard library objects like buildings, trees, vehicles, apron objects, etc. etc. which you can then position anywhere in the world. Moreover, you can find many separate extra library objects for both these programs on this and on other FS sites.

Good luck

Hans

I use Instant scenery 3 for object placement. Anything I can use with that will be brilliant.

I looked here and there are not tree libraries.

I have the Gerrish Gray Release 3 which was needed when I installed the Faroe Islands. I've found a Trees_0.bgl in a scenery folder in the main Scenery folder. IS3 however, doesn't pick up Trees_0.bgl.

You may need to add the Trees_0.bgl to a new Trees library using the IS3 Library Creator utility.

Yes.........I have the trees_v3 Trees_0.bgl in FS2004/Scenery/scenery and the bmp textures in FS2004/Texture folder. I do not see Trees_0.bgl in the IS3 model libraries window. I assume it should be there ?

If they're not listed under trees or veg (vegetation) you'll need to click on the folder icon and navigate to the Scenery/World/scenery folder and select Trees_0.bgl manually.

Better still, see if this works; it's from page 29 of the IS manual:

Using add-on libraries in Instant Scenery

With the default settings, Instant Scenery only shows default libraries in its Library dropdown list.

To add scenery objects from add-on libraries you have, click the Options button to open the

Options dialog box. Enable Add-on global libraries and Add-on local libraries.

Instant Scenery will now allow selecting both default and add-on libraries.

To see which add-on libraries are available, disable default libraries in the Options dialog box.

The remaining libraries in the Library dropdown list (if any) are add-on libraries.

Default libraries were ticked as was Add-on global libraries and Add-on local libraries = 4 ticked. No Trees_0.bgl appeared.

You said "If they're not listed under trees or veg (vegetation) you'll need to click on the folder icon and navigate to the Scenery/World/scenery folder and select Trees_0.bgl manually." I tried this & got this message.

I clicked Yes & got a message saying you can only open scenery files saved with IS for editing.

Ummm........

"C:\FS2004\Scenery\scenery" isn't a valid address - check where your Trees_0.bgl is installed. It should be "C:\FS2004\Scenery\World\scenery".

C:\FS2004\Scenery\scenery is where it is. I'll move it to C:\FS2004\Scenery\World\scenery.

I'll be back !!

Still no luck. It's not being picked up & I see the same messages again.

I had to install Gerrish Gray trees for the Faroe Islands & they did the trick. I've checked the Gerrish Gray v3 read me & it says 'Unzip the contents of the file SCENERY.ZIP into your main fs####>\scenery folder. This installs a single file called trees_0.bgl that contains all the tree objects.

The bmps were to go into into in the main \texture folder, which is where they are.

Try installing the two tree libraries in the link below to Scenery\Generic\scenery:

http://gianp.altervista.org/Static/BuildBlks.htm

Hopefully Instant Scenery 3 will "see" them in there.

According to the description in the download link given above, it includes API macros for placement. These are used for older FS2000/2002 scenery files, and are not in the format required for IS3. So that library file will never be picked up by the program, no matter where you put it.

There is a whole series of tree libraries in the IS3 format by Matthew Tomkins. The first in this series is called Matt's Trees. Vol I - Eucalypts. There are 14 files that I have in my Static Objects Library folder (that is where I put all my library files and textures).

You can do a search at the AVSIM library for:

Matthew Tomkins trees

and you should find them all.

Hope this helps,

Tom Gibson
