flightsimg
That one is a Latécoère Bréguet XIV reaching to St-Louis, Senegal, by the 1920's. Such a flight was part of the French airmail lines which linked France to South America along the shores of West Africa! kalizzi
Thank you Gérard for the lovely picture of this pioneering model. The shortest crossing point of the southern Atlantic is from Senegal to Brazil. It was frequented by such pioneers as the WW1 Charles Nungesser and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. They flew south from France, through Spain then along the north-western African coast till St. Louis then made the hop west. I have seen an authentic replica of Bréguet XIV a few years back -probably late 2010, registration F-POST and named "Le Petit Prince" doing the same route. I took a shot or two of it as our aircraft was departing Laâyoune (GMML), through the window and with a sandstorm on during that time (hence the poor quality). One distinction is the modern, steerable tailwheel in lieu of the skid. Best wishes. flightsimg
Thanks Peer and Khalid for the comment Yes, the Aeropostale line is a legend in France, with pioneer pilots establishing airmail and pax lines towards northwestern and West Africa after WWI. Aviation at the time was applied to colonial empires and mostly every western nation did the same at the time Fine plane to fly, and very evocative! That one was the workhorse to fly from France to Dakar by the beginnings of the company! When young, those endeavours were a legend in France, with numerous adventures along the way, and after that along the French lines in South America, crossing the Andes Gérard Guichard, Dijon, Burgundy, France. i5 Intel processor, 4 Go of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 920MX, DirectX 12.0, and FSX Gold Edition with SP1, SP2. NMLW
Nice to see your fine old Breguet XIV in action Gerard. Airmail was quite a luxury back in the 1920s, especially in Africa!  :) Larry

flightsimg
Thanks Larry and GBJim for your kind comments! During the inter-war period, there were a considerable interest into those aviation pioneers! I read that the Aeropostale endeavours remained in history because a lot of writers, tales, etc. were dedicated to. That was not the case to other French, or other countries' efforts during that same time! Larry: the Breguet has a sound behavior and, as far as mail (or passengers) were concerned, those first airlines represented a dramatic gain of time, compared to shipping Gérard Guichard, Dijon, Burgundy, France. i5 Intel processor, 4 Go of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 920MX, DirectX 12.0, and FSX Gold Edition with SP1, SP2. flightsimg
Yep! I have checked for some sceneries useable in FSX but not much, or even null! When I had built my first websites about aviation by the year 2000, I had launched a one about the Aeropostale. There was not much at the time but I had at least documented about the company's lines and story!
