FSX/Fraps query

Hi guys.

I fancied videoing my AI as have recently done a load of plans to have ai traffic at Heathrow as 1970s aircraft. Id seen loads of people recommend Fraps, so i downloaded the trial version. All setup ok, but when i try to video my "game" it reverts to the default view (cockpit:virtual cockpit), no matter which "aircraft" im using (usually a mobile tower/invisible arrow etc). The big issue with that is you don't get the proper aircraft sounds which i have added, just the muted sounds as though you were in an actual tower (if that makes sense!!)

So, what i want to know is, can that be changed so that when i press on F9 in locked spot for example, it stays on locked spot and doesnt revert to virtual cockpit, and is it just that i have the demo?

Don't really want to buy the full version to find it does the same thing, as the proper old aircraft sounds are a big part of what i was trying to do!!

Thanks for any advise

Jon

That's likely due to a conflict in command keys. On the "movie" tab you can change the Video Capture Hotkey to one that is unused, since the default is probably what causes you to go to the cockpit. Or you can change the setting of that key in the FSX preferences.

In the "movie" tab, what are your Sound Capture Settings? Did you check "Record Win 7 Sound"?

Unless it's recently been changed, the paid version is just like the free version, except that you are no longer limited to 30 seconds per shot, and the FRAPS "watermark" is removed. There might be something else different, but it's been a long time and I don't recall for sure, perhaps a limitation on screen captures.
