LTCSZ
My (current) favorite plane in FS2004 is the DeHavilland DHC-7, four engine turboprop...But, I am not real pleased with the sound file...Sounds really tinny...Can anyone recommend a replacement sound file that has some realism to it? Thanks... Edited October 28, 2018 by LTCSZ
BobSeaman
When in doubt, search the File Library for sound sets by Aaron Swindle. Sound files can be subjective due to how you hear them. Your hardware and speakers/head phones will make a difference. So its handy to understand how to fine tune a set using the volume assignments in the sound folder's config file. Try bumping up or down the volume for a sound in the sound.cfg file and you may find the perfect solution. :pilot: One thing about sound files, they haven't changed a lot for a long, long, time. ;) Try sound sets for FSX, FS2002, even FS2000 in your aircraft and listen to how they behave. All it really costs you is how long it takes to download them. So, feel free to experiment. :pilot: As a brief aside, I once downloaded a "super duper Beaver" floatplane for FS9 to try it out. Full glass cockpit, winglets everywhere, slung-back wings and fancy tail planes, etc. The aircraft was neat but it really wasn't what I was looking for. The sound folder that was included, however, was fantastic for single engine turbo props. :D So, I re-purposed the sound folder for my single engine Pilatus and Air Tractor planes. Again, don't be afraid to try different sound sets.
napamule2
Found the sound I used years ago that 'rocked'! The sound, by Aaron Swindle, originally for the C-130 was modified by Milton Shupe to match the DHC-7 / Dash 7. File is 'd7vcmdla.zip', 23.7 Mb and is here at FSCom library. I think you will LOVE this sound. Beats C-208B sound, that's for sure. Cheers. Chuck B Napamule Found this video I made of the RC-7B (with this sound), Army MultiFuntion, (Dash7) in FSX. Paints by Tom Woods ('Crazy Hawk') and Mike Huang ('ARL'). August 2009. Link: https://youtu.be/fpSliUja7tc . (Turn down your sound to 40% as it's LOUD and could blow your speaker!).
