BigT-65
This is the cockpit view of my Aerosoft Fighting Falcon X. There is a bright spot on the screen, most noticeable on the right side. I moves along with the airplane and is always there no matter the time of the day or direction of flight. This bright spot only shows up with this F-16 and from the virtual cockpit view. It is not a function of my monitor. Does anyone else have this aircraft and this bright spot? It almost looks like landing lights but they are off and turning them on makes no difference. i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, 500 GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino HOTAS.[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mrzippy
Cockpit shadows/light reflections? Do you see it at night? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
GBJim
I see this at times and attribute it to glare off the windscreen, usually when the sun is behind me. If I steer left or right of it, it goes away. Jim Happiness is FSX Steam and Windows 7 . :)
BigT-65
This bright spot is there all the time with this plane. Day and night, if I turn right it is still there, if I turn left it is still there. It only occurs with this airplane. I even went into my cfg file and turned off interior reflections and it is still there. I just recently started flying the F-16 again. I don't remember it being a problem in the past. I was hoping someone who flies this plane regularly would respond and say they do or don't see it on their computer. i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, 500 GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino HOTAS.[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BigT-65
I decided to try opening the canopy to see if there is a change in the bright spots. When the canopy is open the bright spots disappear. It does seem that the bright spots are simulated reflections on the canopy. They are not very realistic in that they never change. Subsequently they are very annoying and as you can see in the picture they wash out the scenery. i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, 500 GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino HOTAS.[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CRJ_simpilot
It's more than likely part of the model. They probably coded that in to offer "realism." OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk? An awesome weather website with oodles of Info. and options. Wile E. Coyote would be impressed.
BobSeaman
Before you try to fix that reflection texture, read my night vision thread in the FS2002 forum. :pilot: All you should need to do is add a green VC light and then get used to flying with all of your nav lights off (only the panel light on) at night. Its a neat way to simulate wearing NVG's.
mrzippy
Bob has made an interesting point! Is this bright spot visible day or night just sitting in the cockpit cold and dark? Maybe something from the panel shining upwards? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
BobSeaman
Bob has made an interesting point! I try to do that from time to time.. (Harumph harumph) :D The good old Viper F-16 from FS2002 and FS9 has the same kind of "reflection" textures applied to the inside of the canopy. In FS2002 (and I'm assuming FS9 and FSX) you can do the "night vision" trick using the VC light, as long as the inside of the canopy glass is textured (and the texture uses an alpha channel). This tricks FS into making the outside scenery a little brighter, the color of the VC light doesn't really matter*-it just adds a background hue. The "stronger" the effect of the alpha channel on the glass reflections, the stronger the NVG effect gets at night. Give it a try. Its a trip flying through clouds at night when you have the NVGs turned on. Its also great for flying low at night and not clobbering a mountain. You'll also want to try this in a dark room. The effect works but its subtle. *- Well, it does to a degree. Strong red, green, and blue VC lights seem to work better with this effect.
