pvarn
There is no need to uninstall. Use the Steam App to validate/verify the files and FSX defaults will be repaired back to the installed state. Fast and easy. Only the broken files will be touched. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm

When I click the installer, it is directed to C:/Program files (x86)/Steam Should I allow Steam to install To "C:/Program files (x86)/Steam" or choose another? Does it matter what path Steam is installed to?
pvarn
Best to avoid program files so you can put in add-ons with less hassle in the future. Anywhere with lots of disk space for expansion. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm

I just made a Folder called Steam so path is C:/Steam UPDATE: I guess I figured it out. I made a folder called STEAM on my C:/ Drive. That's the path the game is Now being Reinstalled in. I hope this works. Sorry for all My Confusion. Sucks to be me sometimes, I forget this stuff so easily.

loki
For future reference, you can back up the FSX SE files so you won't need to re-download the full sim in the future. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-yphv-2033

I see it may be a problem because of the Path in which it say it "Must Be" Installed on my PC. Everyone says that we will have problems if we install our games in "Programs or Program Files (x86). I am using Windows 10 and will be purchasing a new Gaming System Soon. I'll be making a post soon looking for suggestions on which System to purchase. Anyway - Here is copied info from Steam Backup Instructions for you to take a look at. STEAM Important: Backups for Valve games created with this feature will not include saved games, custom multiplayer maps or configuration files. To backup your entire installation (including custom content), ensure that copies of all custom files are in the following folders in the path: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\\ My FSX install path is C:\STEAM\SteamApps\common\FTX\ Please share your opinion on this. Thank you I believe they are just saying that the Steam backup process will only backup files in the game's directory. The path they give is the default, and it shouldn't matter that yours is different. It really just means that the Steam backup won't include the FSX.cfg file as it is stored in your user folder, so you would have to back it up separately. I get all discombobulated with these paths and how to's. I see the directions as if they are Carved in Stone and that it HAS to be the way they say exactly or it won't work. You're probably correct. I will find out soon enough when I get my new PC. Here's a technical question: Now that I have FSX-SE Installed, It can ONLY be played as long as I'm connected to Steam Via Internet Connection or can it be played Totally OFF Line without Internet Connection? I ask this because we loose our Internet Connection often where I live. Do you know anything about that? Thank you

In Steam you will want to set it to offline mode. It will still need to connect occasionally to verify your account, but only something like every 30 days (don't remember the time frame offhand). pvarn
Don't worry about the installation path. The one givin by the installer is "suggested" because it gives the installer and maintenance program (Steam) full control over maintaining the files (you have to pull tricks to mess with them yourself.) Steam will let you install anywhere which gives you the ability to modify the files to you liking (and risk) in the future. Steam will still repair your installation (no matter where it is) and knows where your user config files are and will revert those also. Deleting FSX.CFG will also revert that file when you start FSX (that feature is built into FSX rather than maintained by Steam.) -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
