Default C172 red and gold texture showing just a blank white airplane

Hey everyone,

 

When I go to fly the default C172 in the red and gold texture it loads as just blank white, any help?

This is not a texture displaying error. It is not an error at all I think.

Look at the preview image in the aircraft selection screen. (thumbnail.jpg).

There the texture is white also.

I don't use the plane much but I do not remember ever seeing a red and gold one.

So, I have the feeling the white cessna is just accidentally called "red and gold".

Should be easy to correct to "White" by changing it in the aircraft.cfg file of the cessna.

The Red and Gold is downloadable from the File Library. All of my 172's show proper color for each. Look at your aircraft.cfg for the 172 and rewrite the ui-variation that says red and gold and call it white.

For clarity, I was not talking about one from the library. My post is about the default c172. That livery is white, but weirdly it is called "Red and Gold".

I checked the 'virgin' backup I have to make sure.

 

Edit:I see now yours is called "white" mrZippy. Maybe you changed that yourself at some point?

I may have changed it a while ago to keep from being confused because I also have the real R&G textures. Just looked at my virginal copy and the white dude is labeled Red and Gold. Microsofty is not infallible!:rolleyes:

Checked and double checked.

The white cessna only has the name Red and Gold.

Not a error of computer not displaying the texture. Texture is supposed to be white. Just has the wrong name.:)

Easy to correct, just change the name in the aircraft.cfg.:)

 

Wait, it doesn't matter the color of your berries. After all, it takes two colors to make a rainbow.

Are you saying you do not have a folder named texture in the C172 folder?

 

the ui_vaiation= line needs to be changed to =White.

 

Been that way since FSX came out.

This is a good "Be Specific, Bob" moment! Does he mean, like you stated, bean, that he has no folder named texture OR does he mean that there is no texture folder for the Red and Gold paint job?

Hey, the Red and Gold texture actually did exist back in the first few days of FSX. It showed as a White Cessna with red and gold stripes on both sides. But now the texture is just white. IDK if Microsoft decided to change the texture or not, but whatever happened, the texture disappeared. Believe me, there actually was an original Red and Gold texture on the Cessna! The name of the texture is no mistake! There was never supposed to be a fully white Cessna, it did have some red and gold stripes on it! Whoever has the original Red and Gold texture needs to upload it! Here's an image of what the original texture looks like:

Iceman - The thread that you replied to is 4 years old. I just looked at mine, and my 172 is all white also.

Doesn't bother me as I don't use the 172's much, if any! I do like the looks of the striping, though!
