Guest djuhre
I joined Flightsim in 2010 and have downloaded at least 20 files to fly, don't remember how to do it anymore. Want to download American Air lines 737 -9 MAX. When I do and follow read me file, I can not get it FSX to recognize it? Can anyone help me as to downloading new files and making them work? Founder Nels_Anderson Posted August 1, 2018 Founder Share Posted August 1, 2018 On our FSX landing page: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?13632-FSX (also available via the blue menu bar on our home page) we have, among other things, a listing of tutorials on how to install add-ons. Try that first then come back if you have questions.
mrzippy
Give us the exact filename of this aircraft. A lot of the TDS models seem to have some funky thing done to them by some "developers" that cause them not to show in the Select Aircraft Page. Texture= (not correct in the aircraft.cfg) is the primary cause. 2nd probable cause is the title= line is more than 127 characters. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! mrzippy
What a monkeybutt this was! I now see that this is a combination of a TDS 737-9 max Westjet full aircraft download and a repaint download from another site for American airlines. The Westjet would not show because the manufacture= was labeled Boeing instead of TDS. You also had to change the model= and panel= to fsx. To get the American Airlines to show, you have to add the texture folder and the [fltsim.X] to the aircraft.cfg and change it to [fltsim.1] and change the model and panel= to fsx. Also add a thumbnail.jpg image of the American plane to the AAL texture folder. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
Guest djuhre
Nels: Many thanks for your response. I will re-read the tutorial on add-ons, I really wanted to fly the 737 Max, but maybe I will just pick another plane. Have a great day, thank you. Yes Mr Zippy sometimes "monkeybutt" is the only way to describe getting some of these planes working and showing up, you're right there I've found a few like that (Most recently the TDS 787 Dreamliner), you've also gotta be careful with the title= line with these TDS models, 127 characters includes spaces. And never remove the portion of the line that says:- "Plane0 FREEWARE_COPYRIGHT_TenkuuDevelopersStudio_01JUN2013 OPTANT1110000000_OPTDEC11110" as the author says "bad things will happen". (LOL) I tried and my wings and engines vanished, but after I have worked out some of these issues you mentioned there are nearly always no visible VC, I give up at that point, I can't like a plane if it doesn't have or show a working VC even if its only an aliased default VC panel, 2D panels just don't provide enough virtual reality for this pretend pilot. Ha ha. Cheers Jethro
