G'day guys, I'm back!

any way, I've just re installed fsx on my laptop , with windows 8.1 ..

any way, now I seem to get fsx loaded up, and sitting on the tarmac and fsx will crash to the desk top

Before on windows 7 I used the uiautomationcore.dll thingy and all was good, most of the time..

any way I have read on various forums ,sites not to use that on windows 8.1, am I wrong in this??

thanks guys

If that particular .dll is causing the crash, then it can't hurt to put it in like you did with your Windows 7. You might want to check your Events log to see what the error/faulting module is.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

Can't say I've had a problem with loading FSX + Accel onto my new bottom of the range Acer using W8.1 64bit. In fact it loaded easier than FS9!!! In FSX I can get about 17 - 18 fps with sliders mid range. FS9 had a problem due to the full screen setting in the FS9.cfg, now sorted!

There are a lot of reasons people could get crashes. We don't know what causes this person's crashes until he reports the results of checking the Event Viewer log. It could be add-ons or lacking .net/C++ updates, too high settings, etc.

and I know in the launch thing it shows pics of the steam version... I haven't got steam re installed yet..

Read the crash stickies at the top of this forum for how to use the Event Viewer Log.

"on disk last year about the middle of the year as my old original copy was worn out"

Pretty hard to wear out the install disk since you don't need it in the drive to use the sim.

Your sim installation on your HD does not "wear out" unless your HD goes bad or you mess it up with add-ons and bad tweaks.

" in the launch thing it shows pics of the steam version... I haven't got steam re installed yet.. "

Are you running the Steam version or not?

If you have any version of FSX running, there is no reason to re-install anything.

All problems can be fixed without doing so unless your computer is broken.
