Hawker Tempest Crossing the Rhine by March 1945!

Hi!

That Hawker Tempest recently published here in the library, saved my week!

I have embarked myself into the modifications of the airports I fly with my Boeing 737-200 but I stumble upon some hurdles (some mismatches with ADE, etc.) and that took more time than scheduled :(

I thought to post only next Saturday now, but that fine Hawker Tempest inspired me. That improved Typhoon began flying combat by 1944. I imaged it crossing the Rhine in the area of Essen, Germany by late March 1945! Enjoy!

Thanks Rupert. Unluckily :( for my WW2 planes pictures, no tale, no several pictures. Just one shot to render a atmosphere (I hope :) )

My like to photographying WW2 warplanes comes from the time I had a site of mine about the early WW2 in France ('May 40' like we say, when Germans invaded western Europe, UK excepted after they conquered Poland). It worked with the first Microsoft CFS. At a moment, I eventually closed the site -- and even deleted and asked sites (of which that one) to delete all the freewares I'd deviced for. Now it just remains some remains here and there, like a archive of past sites :):)

And now I have no more time to elaborate about the warbirds I illustrate

I however set the time, season, weather, location etc. according to where the plane actually flew during WW2

Very nice Gerard! That scenery looks like either early morning or early evening! Used to love flying at that time of the day, so calm and peaceful!

You never want the flight to end!

Thanks for the nice comments Microsburst and Rick. Rick: it was a morning flight as that illustrates the push to cross the Rhine in the UK sector, about Essen by late March 1945 and I guess missions started early in the day

I agree! Those were also my favorite times to fly, especially in the morning when it was generally cooler. (Our choppers didn't have A/C.)

Having said that, the same times are also perfect for being on a boat whether the boat is moving or not. Some of my best boating experiences are spent sitting on the aft deck, smelling Molly's bacon frying in the galley, and enjoying my first beer of the day. Or water skiing outside the ski-boat's wake so your skis make a steady unchanging sound. The water is usually so calm and clear, with not a ripple, but perhaps a wisp of fog!!::cool:;)

Michael

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
