Brussels after dark

Nice. Gave my feeble old eyes a real workout. Waldo is easier to find than that airplane. -- Bob

Hey Bob,

I hope you could easily see the plane in shots 1, 4, & 5! I admit I didn't check to assure I had a full moon that night.

As an old combat chopper guy I prefer to fly a dark plane at night rather than bright! We even had "formation lights" installed that could only be seen by other aircraft at your altitude or higher and not from the ground. A bright view to those on the ground can get you shot!!:eek:

I've always been a little confused at some other people's opinion of screen shots. I really like to show the area I'm flying over. Or the clouds, sky, etc.

I'm not a re-painter, so other than model or type, the planes I use don't change. But I love to show the changing scenery in this vast world we live in! I consider it a major find if I can show scenery with views or details no one else has shown. The ongoing "rocks" series is an example of what I like to do. The re-painters' scenery often doesn't change, they point out the year and route but where they are isn't really their priority, they're busy showing off their plane. It's a matter of where your priorities are.

So day or night, I focus on how the terrain looks or how the lights or buildings of the city look. Before I started posting on this forum I seldom included my plane in the screenshots at all. Other planes, especially those flying, yes. My plane no. I already knew what my plane looked like and I still feel it blocks the scenery I'm trying to showcase.

Thanks for the input! I'll try to merge a little of both into my shots from now on.

Hi Rupert!

I thought you were all dead on that forum :) (kidding!) On the other hand, I'm sure you were in the reglemented area West of EBBR. Was your private jet allowed?! :pilot:

Cheers

Hey G'erard,

If I'd ever flown illegally in Brussels RW, it certainly wouldn't have been the first place I had flown "illegally" RW. But so far regardless of where I've gone in FS, I've not even had a single round fired at me!! ;)

Sorry I can't say that was the way it was for me when I flew in the Real World!!:eek:

Thanks to all who look at and/or comment on my various screen shot posts! Sad to say, I'm not really nearly as good about thanking viewers as I should be!!:o:o:o If I didn't think people were interested in my style of screenshot, I wouldn't still be posting.

THANKS SO MUCH!!

Nothing against scenery only shots. I've done many myself. I'm a low and slow man, so it's all about the scenery.

I was making light of your dark shots to find a theme for my comments. I like to avoid the "nice shots" banality. -- Bob

I hear you Bob!! As a RW combat chopper guy I can truly relate to low and slow!! We tried to stay as low as we could without hitting the trees so we had less of a chance of getting shot since we were flying soooo slow!! In fact we sometimes flew under the double tree canopy following streams to do troop insertions and retrievals! Yes, that does mean that while in flight we sometimes traveled for miles when we couldn't see the sky! Nor could you "climb out" through the tree canopy when under heavy fire. Think driving through a dead end tunnel where you have to come out the same route you went in. But with live incoming gun fire to keep you from getting bored. And since they get a 2nd chance to judge your speed, etc. the rounds on the return trip are much more accurate.

Michael

BTW: Speaking of low and slow. I'm trying to put together a series of screenies of the world's shortest regularly scheduled airline route. EGEW (Westray) to EGEP (Papa Westray.) It's truly hard to take decent screenshots of a flight of 1.7 miles, even in a Grand Caravan!! And no, I won't use a chopper because they don't do it by chopper.

Unless someone else, anyone else, beats me to it I'll probably take 25 or more flights just to make the five or so decent screenshots involved in portraying a 1.7 mile regularly scheduled passenger flight!!!

There's always instant replay. Gives you plenty of opportunities to shoot the same scene from different angles. I use it for landings all the time. -- Bob

Hi again! That's a good opportunity for me to ask whether there are any rules concerning taking pictures of a flight in FS on that forum! Personally, when flying with my Boeing 737-200, where the workload is high -- usually two pilots at the helm -- I tend to indulge myself with the 'Pause' key for some pictures, especially at takeoff or landing :) :) Any opinion about?

OK, I hadn't even thought of that!! I'll have to see how to do that. We didn't have instant replay in the Corps.

G'erard,

I'm not aware of any "rules" for posting screenshots. In fact some I've seen posted have been so "Photoshopped" it's scary! Having said that, I'm sure some of the older folks, I'm talking to you Jan,:p:p will fill in the correct information if I'm wrong.

Wait until you meet me in Brussels after dark!

Jan? Are you expanding your services beyond Amsterdam's Red Light district? :o

LOL

On the other hand, I made some paint improvement to my Boeing 737-200 and after that, they are installing me the Windows April update now. So any post of a flight from my EBBR - based small independent airline will take some delay :)
