FSX Start-up has changed

I recently had to reinstall FSX. Now, when it opens, it goes straight into the Microlight at Friday Harbor (and already flying). In otherwords it bypasses the start up screen with menus to choose a 'plane / location / settings etc. I have to "end flight" to get back to the proper opening screen. Anyone any idea why? And if anyone knows how to change the default choice being Microlight at Friday Harbor I'd love to know.

I'm no expert but it sounds like your sim is opening to the "Demo" screen. I remember downloading this before I bought FSX. Unfortunately I don't know how to correct it. As for changing the default flight, that's easy. Underneath location, aircraft, weather, etc. is a button named change. Once you've changed those parameters find the button across the bottom of the opening screen marked "Save". click it, give the flight a name and tick the box next to "Make this the default flight"on the bottom left of that screen. There ya go. You can make as many flights as you want and switch between them at your leisure. Just remember all the parameters of your saved flight such as; type of panel you want, location where you start such as at the gate or on the runway or mid-flight and the weather because if you change planes or airports these parameters will remain the same...until you change them and save a new flight. Hope this helps.

Many thanks unclegreg. I'll give that a go. I also might have a look at the FSX.cfg file(s) to see if there is a parameter there which sets it. Cheers.

What you're seeing is the default opening screen setting. You can change it as suggested in the FSX .cfg directly or via the checkbox in the sim menu.
