New Notebook GPU-Intel- FPS?

Not complaining, my desktop gets fantastic FPS as you can see my signature, had not had time yet to change my old Laptop signature, anyway bought a MSI gaming laptop, (MSI calls it a notebook. Here it is:MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro-422 Intel Core Quad i7 6700 HQ 2.6/3.3 turbo-16 GB Memory, 2 CPU fans, 1 for GPU. IPS-Level Screen, 5 heat tubes, I do wish my CPU was higher, but my cost of it was climbing up enough. The GPU is a Nvidia is a GTX 1060 6GB Rams.

Ok, now for the question, I did not know Intel GPU is the dedicated to the Nvidia GPU, if I have that right, so MSI told me?

MSI said Nvidia GPU does not kick in when my Notebook is hooked HDMI LG OLED 65" flat screen, I asked them," when does the Nvidia kick in? they said it does not help when hooked up to the TV, only for the Notebook Screen. I think I disagree? can some one explain that?

Now for the big surprise mystery that's got me puzzled, I read and Goggled why FPS goes way down when hooked up to a big screen TV, it's the opposite. not kidding!

FPS is low when on Notebook only, hooked up to TV 10-15 FPS up, yep! higher. When I disconnect from the HDMI drops back down to the low.

Settings in FSX Resolution 1366 X 768, I tried Resolution to 1920 x 1080, drop 8 FPS, so to get the best on other setting, I keep it at the 1366 X 768.

Other setting: Graphics 1366 X 768 , FPS locked 61, Global Tex. Res. @ HIGH, Advanced animations ON, Level detaill @ MED.,Mesh Complexity @ 50, Mesh Res.@ 19m, Tex. Res.@ 60m, Water Eff.@ LOW, Land detail Tex. ON, Scenery complexity @ Very Dense, Autogen Density @ Very Dense, thet two I sometimes change to Dense, depends where I'm flyi

Aircraft settings: 3-D-ON, High Res.3-D cockpit-ON, 2-D Panel transparency @ 90%, Aircraft Shadow on Ground-ON

Weather:Simple, very low. I'm not into clouds, don't care much.

Now for the last, not to bore any one, Traffic: Airline traffic dens. @ 33%, General avation Traffic Dens. @32%, Airport Vech.dens. @ LOW.

Land and Sea : Road Vech. @36%, Ships: @ 35%, Leeisure boats @ 33%.

That's it. Our OLED has to be the best for us: Aspect Ratio @ 16:9 Ultra HD DEEP Colors.

Having a Blast with FSX on our OLED, I don't Fly FSX to much even though just bought a HP 32Q monitor, only new addon in my FSX desktop is the GSX.

Happy Flying, Be Safe!

In FSX, road traffic is a frame rate killer. Try turning that down to 5%.

And try to read and apply as necessary Kosta's Tweaking Guide, which you find as a sticky at the top of this forum.

There is a way of forcing applications to use the nVidia GPU over the Intel one, but I cannot remember where I read that.

I am aware of the tweaks, I used them with my old gaming Desktop, because the CPU was only 2.4, my new Desktop didn't have to do much tweaking too it, very high FPS on it.

I did try all tweak settings, did not make too much of a change, didn't try with the HDMI hooked up, I did something wrong testing, and locked up my FSX, had to remove and reinstall, CFG as been with no tweaks, then until I hooked up to tv, then my mouth dropped with high FPS been getting. I may put the tweaks back in, and hook up to TV, and see what happens. Thanks for the reply, all of you.

MSI told me when I plug in the HDMI, Intel switches to the Nvidia GPU, he said I got a good GPU, Intel is just for light working display, not games, that's when the Nvidia GPU kicks in when I plug it into the HDMI. wow why I was in the Nvidia control panel I found out I can switch it from 60 hertz refresh rate to 120 as soon as I clicked on 120 no more flickering and I'm going to lower the settings on the traffic and boats and stuff like that and I'm on quality setting I know I could switch it to Performance side or something like that it would bring the FPS up, but curved lines will appeared Jagged, it's just a matter of testing!

Update: WOW! I changed my refresh rate to 120, no more flickering but all of sudden, black screen off and on, micro, I went to my flight simulator FSX and change the resolution settings 1920X1080X 32, bingo! that took care of that problem, but my frame rates are still good. Flying from the airport Seattle my FPS is 38 -48 average 38, at the further away Zoom 0.30 and some times seen highest @ 50 FPS. no big drop off on FPS.

Princess Juliana FPS 59-63-average @ 60 0.30 zoom. I'm a real happy camper and this is without any tweaks in the CFG.

Now since I did the 120 refresh rate, so on, I unplugged the HDMI started up the FSX, now also my FPS are higher with notebook alone, before they were not. Strange! I think I'm through testing!
