Rupert Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Well even hundreds of years ago they manage to pile rocks pretty deep in Austria. Thanks to a post from Ptrcam, I decided to check a few more out. After all, St. Rupert had a lot to do with getting some of them stacked up! This is the Fortress of Salzburg. I won't even try to correctly spell the full name!:o The fortress itself is even fairly visible from LOWS airport. Though the cathedral is on the other side of the fortress, that's it showing with the blue roof. Once again I have to apologize. These pictures have to really be small to fit the format. Please click on them to get a better look! Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
NMLW Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 A pretty imposing structure and king of the hill. Very nicely displayed Michael.  :) Larry
flightsimg Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Great views! With St Rupert, on the other hand, that comes closing you to the distant ancestors to the Capetian kings of France :) Gérard Guichard, Dijon, Burgundy, France. i5 Intel processor, 4 Go of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 920MX, DirectX 12.0, and FSX Gold Edition with SP1, SP2. Ptrcam Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 I like the sloping soccer pitch in picture 3. BTW, what scenery are you using? W11 Home. Intel Corei7-14700K 3.4Ghz 28cpu. Nvidia Geforce RTX4040Ti Super. ASUS ROG Strix B650 Mobo. 1 TB Samsung 990m2 SSD.
flightsimg Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Hi Rupert! Me again :) I have found that link (on my most useful site ) http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/sceneobjects/ That's a link where a lot, if not most of FSX 'objects' are listed Cheers! Rupert Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 Yes G'erard, that link does look interesting. I'll certainly check it out! Looking at the Salzburg Fortress shots I realized I'd not shown one from the airport. So here's a shot looking over the top of my new Dunkirk Spitfire, which I'm trying to learn to fly, at not just the Fortress but also the Red Bull Hanger at Salzburg. Ptrcam: I agree! That'd be a tough goal if you're attacking the uphill net!! It's default scenery plus ORBX FTX Global. BTW: Sorry no more shots of the Spitfire yet. I'm still trying to learn to fly it!! :o Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
liner simpilot Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Great set of pics as usual Michael. You sure have lots of scenery in your library. Not sure if these are added in FSX as I only fly FS9 or are they default scenery? Kenny
Rupert Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 Thanks Kenny! I mostly use default FSX scenery with ORBX FTX Global. That's what this is. I have some specific ORBX Regional scenery but not for this area. I'll try to make sure I mention when I use Regional scenery in the future. Right now I'm testing the limits of the new Dunkirk Spitfire which you see in that last shot. Once I learn to fly it a little better, I'll include it in some screenshots. It's a beautiful airplane and has three different aged models. Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
adamb Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 You bored or something Michael. :D Splendid shots my friend! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ptrcam Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Here's one I took years ago of Mont St. Michel. I'm going to have a look at Orbx. Since I spend most of my time below 5000ft I thinks it's time to start upgrading the flight sim world. W11 Home. Intel Corei7-14700K 3.4Ghz 28cpu. Nvidia Geforce RTX4040Ti Super. Rupert Posted March 31, 2018 Author Posted March 31, 2018 Yes, Autogen seems to be far and away the best for those of us who fly low. I just looked at your St. Michel shot. Perhaps if you'd make the airplane an aside to the scenery? It's a nice plane but looks really large since it blocks the whole castle. I have a real problem framing shots as well. I'm used to looking out of the windscreen, not at it from afar!! Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
Ptrcam Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 You're right, the framing was shoddy. Inspired by your posts I decided to explore the Mittelrhein where I know from experience that there are many burgs and schlosses, not a one did I find. The only item of note was this ski slope doubling as a road bridge. W11 Home. Intel Corei7-14700K 3.4Ghz 28cpu. Nvidia Geforce RTX4040Ti Super. ASUS ROG Strix B650 Mobo. 1 TB Samsung 990m2 SSD.
Rupert Posted March 31, 2018 Author Posted March 31, 2018 Hey those bridges looks like the ski slope they're advertising a Range Rover by taking it down.! I noticed they didn't try to take the Rover up it!:p:p Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
