Hi Peer!

That a flight of the extreme! :) I was asking me, when you fly your oldies, do you have to install other AI oldies, or?

Gerard, Merci! :) In 2004 I had the same Calclassic vintage A1 fleet as Larry in his RTW retro flights. But they are created as scenery layers. In FSX it's not easy to create vintage A1 birds.

"In FSX it's not easy to create vintage A1 birds. "

I see. Maybe the easiest way is to use your vintage planes like AI with the FSX SDK TrafficDatabaseBuilder (that tool which yields a trafficAircraft.bgl file, which put to fly the planes of your choice -and mostly the usual planes you have in your Aircraft folder, in FSX). I have no tutorial about that but should your vintage community be interested, I could plan one ) Just suffice then to have one trafficAircraft for vintage use, and one for usual use of FSX

On the other hand, I have absolutely no idea about whether the old technique of transforming working planes into library objects useable with a scenery works, or not in FSX (that worked with a tool transforming a plane's mdl file into a library object)

Keep me updated with that but I thing that the trafficAircraft method could work

Cheers

I've recently converted my FSX to classic aircraft only. What I did was create another folder in the SimObjects and put the classics in there, then in the Scenery/World/scenery folder any traffic flight plans in there are just for the classics.

I renamed any of the later traffic files with a .BAK so they are not read, I also installed Tom Gibson's CalClassics to help fill up a few airports, then slowly but surely I've been adding my own classic aircraft, some are fictional because I've used some of my repaints plus a lot of fictional flight plans but it's working.

By the way Peer, great shots of the Il-18, I have that one too.

I forgot to add, I found this site some of you might be interested in, some old French aircraft:

You may have read in the FSX forum, when I was using FS9 I created a few water afcads and I had the some old ai seaplane flying to and from them.

So I tried to use them in FSX but they didn't work, I'm still trying to get my head round making a water afcad with parking to do the same in FSX.

Then I can get the ai seaplanes working again.

Hi Peer!

Like one says in France "Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait!" (which is about "as soon said, as soon done!") I have tuned a tutorial about how tweaking the AI plane traffic. check at http://flightlessons.6te.net/tutwork.htm#aiplaX

Some errors in that text still may exist, as I usually improve the English-speaking version when I procede with the French-speaking translation. I hope that will do :) :)

Cheers. I'm know turning to the translation

I'll dive into that Gerard, thank you! :)

Larry and Kenny: THANKS!:):)

Wonderful shots Jan!! I can only imagine seeing all those recips flying in and out of airports with Jetways is like seeing you or me walking through a modern supermarket!!

Michael

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

Yes, I agree on the jet-ways looking awkward with glorious old recips! Wish some developer would put in a set of deplaning stairs, huh! (That would run out to your door!)

Anyway, great shots, as always, Lord Peerhoven! Thanks!

y.o.s.,

Len

OK. No problems.

And although my English is very bad (I'm writing using Google-translator), I'll try to help you.

Here:

http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm

download files from the AI File One to the AI File Nine (nine ZIP-files).

Unzip the files and start the installation.

First install the file ai2k41 and specify the path to FSX.

Then the file ai2k42, ai2k43 ... and ai2k48.

Last install the file ai2k4T! Here are the traffic. They themselves will be installed in the folder "Addon Scenery"

Then we look, where the simulator is installed, under the folder "Addon Scenery" you will see the folder "Aircrafts".

Copy all the AI aircraft and put them in the folder: SimObjects - Airplanes

Run the simulator.

Go: Settings - Scenery Library and from the folder "Addon Scenery" set one! of the three AI traffic And...

... enjoy the good mood )

So I downloaded the Classic MATS Military Traffic for FS2004 here.

The ZIP file is called ai2k4MATS.zip

And installed it tоо.

Now I have two traffic connections:

CalClassic Traffic 1957

and

CalClassic Traffic MATS

Conflicts between traffics are not noticed

Enjoy

At the attention of Jan and the vintage airliners community:

yes, that site is a old one, which existed since I myself engaged into FS. Their method, at http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm, is mostly for FS9 and works based not upon the trafficAircraft.bgl with FSX, like described in my tutorial (see post above), but with the FS9 scenery library

I absolutely do not know whether their files at http://www.calclassic.com really work with FSX. But that surely is worth the try! :) Should they work, you would spare a lot of time and tiedous work to adapt the AI traffic -- and all that comes within -- in FSX!

Good luck and keep me updated, so I could update my tutorial on my site! :) :)

I have installed and everything works without problems

Hi!

'Please confirm!' :) :) That's important as that is a point I will post on my website. So you confirm that the rig provided by the http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm page does work into FSX with the Scenery Library

Thanks for your answer!
