John Snyder Jr
Anyone know how to fix this from popping up, just started? If you click ok it goes on and loads FSX and everything appears to be working normally however it's annoying. Not sure exactly what caused it to start appearing either. I haven't added any scenery or messed with any scenery files. Thanks for all your help!
ColR1948
If you look in the Scenery.cfg file which is in the main FSX folder, open it and scroll down till you find Area.120 then that should tell you what that scenery is, if it is something you accidentally installed then delete it, but if you are not sure post back on here what the scenery is before you do anything else. PhantomTweak
If you look in the Scenery.cfg file which is in the main FSX folder... Ummmm, actually, the scenery.cfg in the main FSX folder is an emergency back-up sort of file, and the original it writes to the usual scenery.cfg file location when FSX is first installed. What you want is the one in this folder: C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\FSX That's the one it's reading when it loads up. Look through that one as directed by Col and see what area 120 is. And where it's supposed to be. The scenery it's referring to may be corrupted. Happens. You could try a repair to fsx, whether from the disk or using Steam's verification feature depends on which version you have. See if that fixes the problem. Just an idea. I get so very few, and they die so quickly due to loneliness... John Snyder Jr
Said it was add on scenery so I deleted it but FSX still showing that same message at startup :(
f16jockey_2
Scenery.cfg location depends on which OS you’re using. Mine is at %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX. Yours could be elsewhere. But it’s definitely NOT the one in yr main FSX folder. Wim
napamule2
You said: '...deleted IT'. IT? What did you delete? The 'AddOn Scenery' folder? Hope not. Area 120 is the 'AddOn Scenery' folder. Flist Simulator X automatically 'look' at that folder to see if it needs to load any scenery. You need to put that folder back, including the folders under it named 'Scenery' AND the folder named 'Texture'. Do not go editing the scenery.cfg. Do all your 'add' or 'delete' actions thru FSX scenery library menu/options. Let FSX do the editing of the scenery.cfg. il88pp
Close fsx Inside: microsoft flight simulator X/Addon Scenery add an empty folder rename the empty folder to: 'scenery' start fsx. Error message should be then gone. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ColR1948
Apologies to John, I learned something here as well, I told you the scenery.cfg was in the main FSX folder, I never realised there was another in C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\FSX. I've gone in there many times but for some reason I never noticed it, any way I'm glad the guys above got you sorted, they have helped me many times. Col. UPHILL3
Due to some kind of known quirk (or flaw) in the FSX SCENERY LIBRARY "ADD-ON" option, I edit the the Scenery config file to manually add-on scenery (rather than the frustration of 3 to 4 or more attempts using the "add-on" feature). napamule2
I make a SEPERATE scenery folder and name it 'AddOn Scenery cb' (my initials). Then I add all add on scenery under my own ('cb') scenery folder. The default 'Addon Scenery' folder stays empty. Then I go to Scenery Library, Click 'Add', browse to my folders, click ok and then click anywhere on white space in window (it's a 'flaw' or 'glitch'). If you just click 'ok' it won't work. So 1 click in white area and 1 click on 'ok'. Then FS will write the entry in scenery.cfg. I NEVER manually edit it (not in 15 years!). Just me? Or the way to do it 'right'? Your pick. jorgen.s.andersen
Chuck, I don't know the reason for this saying, but it runs: "There are many ways to skin a cat!" Jorgen
mikeandpatty
The glitch can be bypassed when adding a new scenery folder by RIGHT CLICKING the empty white space below the scenery and texture folders inside (sometimes there is no texture folder). That way you don't have to manually edit the scenery.cfg folder.
jorgen.s.andersen
A better solution is to use Scenery Configuration Editor. Jorgen

napamule2
It's Left Click in the white area. Am I Right? Not left? Out Right? Right On? Left Out? (hehe). mallcott
It's Left Click in the white area. Am I Right? Not left? Out Right? Right On? Left Out? (hehe). Chuck B Napamule Erm, yes! Scenery Config Editor is the best solution as you can not only add or remove scenery without the sim running, you can correct errors like this one, automagically. il88pp
If you have installed added download folder: KJFK_by_designer_David_Baker with inside it /scenery and /texture open the scenery library list in fsx. Navigate to: KJFK_by_designer_David_Baker Double click that. Do NOT double or single click 'scenery' folder!! DON't double or single click anywhere else either. Click 'ok'. Click in the white area. (left click). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
