Jive1
Hey! I wonder if anybody could advise me what I must do.... It happens sometimes that my FS2004 stops working in the middle of a flight, after 10, 20, 50. .. minutes of flight. And then it says that it will statrt a new session. This happened in the past, but recently I bought a new desktop computer specially for my FS9, and it has an excellent graphics card, 16Gig of RAM, my FS9 is on an SSD.... it is really top class of a computer. So, i did a first flight a few days ago, and today, after maybe 3 or 4 light, FS9 did it again, it stopped, and warned me that it will start a new session. Why does FS9 stop? Is there anybody who can give me some advise what to do in order to avoid such in the future? Greetz Jive1 - Belgium
jgf
There are so many things that can cause this, it will be a matter of elimination. Is FS9 installed in any Program Files folder? If so, reinstall elsewhere. Should be running in XP mode, as administrator. Does this occur with any aircraft? Does it occur anywhere or only a certain area? Does it depend on time of day or season? Did you do a complete reinstall, including add-on scenery, extra aircraft, etc.; or, as many do, reinstall the sim then copy everything from the old install? If the latter, you may have copied a corrupt file, bringing an old problem with you. If you need to reinstall (if the sim is in Program Files, for example), install just the default game and the 9.1 patch; spend an evening with just default aircraft and scenery to see if there is an issue with those. With a new system I assume you have Win10, which has its own issues, but someone else will have pick up there.
Jive1
Thank youi JGF, for your advise..... Maybe I cannot do things that you say, because... It happened sometimes with my old PC, and it happens now with my new pc, which is absolutely high quality with 16 gig RAM, and a excellent graphics card and processor and SSD for the operating system which is Windows 10. Even when my FS9 has been installed on a separate hard drive... This happens again now.... Will I have to live with that sometimes happening error? jgf
Since this problem has occurred on two different systems we can eliminate hardware issues; and since it is currently installed on a separate drive from windows that should eliminate system security as the issue. If your install is still completely default (just the sim and the 9.1 patch) I would suspect a corrupt file or a memory leak. Are you getting any error messages or is it just a CTD? The next time this happens, immediately check the windows event log (https://www.howtogeek.com/123646/htg-explains-what-the-windows-event-viewer-is-and-how-you-can-use-it/), one of the most recent entries should give a clue to what is wrong.
