petenoak
I have been having trouble flying towards intersections that must have been created or renamed in the years since FSX first appeared. For example, here's a 727 Cargojet flight to Bermuda: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CJT245/history/20150102/1345Z/KEWR/TXKF* But FSX doesn't seem to have KINGG, KINER, or BOVIC. I seem to come across this problem more and more. How do you update the intersections in FSX? I hope it's not too problematic. Thanks for any help, pete in oakland, ca. mqytn
Thanks!:pilot: I've got lots of intersections now! I'm so happy!:pilot://KMQY 050156Z AUTO 32010KT 10SM OVC042 04/01 A3042
petenoak
I tried adding the "Worldwide Package" from your link. Something is not right because when FSX tries to update its scenery database I get a SCENERY.CFG file error, "Invalid Remote scenery path in scenery Area.193" I still don't see intersections KINGG, KINER, or BOVIC. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? pete
tvieno
EDIT: unhelpful response http://my.flightmemory.com/pic/tvieno.gifhttp://www.vatsimsigs.co.uk/Status/1136602.jpg
mqytn
Maybe try one area at a time. I just installed North America as a test and I'll add other areas as needed. I placed the one file in the addon scenery folder and it worked just fine. Maybe that will bypass the install problem.
petenoak
I tried adding just the one bgl file for North America. I expected that to have the intersections on the Cargojet 727 flight to Bermuda (according to the coverage map). I got the same error message. Can anyone confirm that this update WILL install the missing intersections BOVIC, KINER and KINGG? Tvieno's supplied link is for these bgl files and manual installation. He reference to an installer must be from: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html I looked at the installation notes for that and it was somewhat daunting with many options, limitations and warnings, which does scare me a bit. I don't want to mess up my present setup which works well enough, with many added sceneries from Orbx and others. pete
tvieno
I see what the problem is. I initially answered your post thinking of the NAV aids update, which includes an installer. The Intersection update doesn't have an installer. The downloaded file is a single bgl file inside a zip file. According the linked page I posted earlier, the instructions are: These updates (FS9, FSX and P3D) contain BGL files that will update some terminal and en route fixes (intersections). Worlwide and selected area updates are provided. See the coverage map. If worldwide package is used, do not mix it with other region BGL files. Installation Just copy the provided BGL file(s) in the sim [Addon Scenery/scenery] folder or any specific declared subfolder in the Addon Scenery folder, replacing any previous version(s). In case you use a dedicated subfolder other than the default parent Addon Scenery, you will have to declare it. See here for how to do that in FSX. I highlighted in BOLD what you need to do. Take the single bgl file and put it in the \Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery folder and that should be it. Using the World INT, it does have the KINGG, KINER, and BOVIC intersections. http://my.flightmemory.com/pic/tvieno.gifhttp://www.vatsimsigs.co.uk/Status/1136602.jpg
petenoak
BINGO! Thank you, TVIENO, for bolding the font of the instructions. I had the bgl file in Addon Scenery, but not in its Scenery subfolder. I now have those newer intersections. Whew! Now if I wanted to have updated runway orientations for proper ILS landings at all airports, would I have to use the full installer .exe file? pete
tvieno
I saw that ILS updater too but i haven't used it, so I don't know. http://my.flightmemory.com/pic/tvieno.gifhttp://www.vatsimsigs.co.uk/Status/1136602.jpg
