unclegreg
Greetings, Last night I downloaded ochikiso.zip from right here at Flightsim. It's scenery for RJAF Matsumoto, Japan. The download is huge and took over 2 and a half hours. Upon opening I find it contains 2 .cab files, one for FS9 and the other for FSX. I have FSX. I've never seen a .cab file used for scenery before. I tried installing it as- Addon Scenery> RJAF> Scenery> Ochi_KISO_seba_FSX.cab and activating it but nothing shows up in the sim but the default RJAF. I then extracted from the .cab file a .bgl file and tried the same process, still no change. Then I tried both the .cab file then the .bgl file in Addon Scenery> Scenery and still no joy. In MCX the .bgl file comes up as " no objects" so I assume it uses default scenery items, (there is no texture folder in the package). I've hesitated to contact the author because the file is 10 years old and the read me is in Japanese. Has anyone used this scenery or does anyone know how to make it work? The .bgl file is over 407,000 Kb. Thanx in advance. unclegreg
longbreak754
Hi unclereg..... I believe that the file only contains photoreal scenery of the area in and around the city of Kiso. I have just downloaded it (in less than 1 min), extracted it and then tried to open the .bgl using Airport Design Editor (ADE). ADE would not open the file as there is no airport. Googled KISO Japan Real Scenery for fsx and found this LINK which appears to support my belief and gives instructions of how to locate the scenery when departing from Matsumoto Airport, Nagano (RJAF). BTW, the reason I was able to download the file in less than a minute is because I have First Class Membership - see HERE. A standard account like yours has restrictions on download speed and the number of simultaneous downloads (currently 2). Regards Brian
unclegreg
Brian, Thank you for your reply. I hadn't thought to open it in ADE. Now I know it's not an airport at all. unclegreg
