Cloudrunner
Hi. Usually the flight sim community is posting repaints of new aircraft the moment they roll out of the real-world assembly line, but for some reason there don't seem to be that many AI models of the new a350. Not sure why? I am looking to update my Cathay Pacific fleet but there is nothing around for Cathay, it seems. Does anyone know where I can find one? Has anyone tried using a flyable as an AI? Does that work or does it hit the frame rates?
hjwalter
I don't know about Cathay Pacific but to use flyable aircraft as AI will certainly hit your frame rates for a number of reasons. Even if you have copied your flyable aircraft into an AI version and have removed it's panel and sound folders, you will still be left with a too complex flyable model file and it's related external textures which are far too many and far too detailed. Moreover, all these textures will need to be mipmapped and alpha channeled. Take care that the AI aircraft's titel specified in it's aircraft.cfg file is unique. In general, it is not recomended to do this. Hans
ital
I have always been interested in painting AI aircrafts for the models available. I've got some softwares to do it hoping they can be very useful for it but I can't promise anything as I'm just getting started so any informations would be appreciated. What AI model are you looking for?
Cloudrunner
Thanks for the advice, Hans. I figured it was likely to be a problem to do it that way. I'll see if someone else can design an AI texture. Cheers I don't know about Cathay Pacific but to use flyable aircraft as AI will certainly hit your frame rates for a number of reasons. Cloudrunner
Hi ital. I'm looking for the a350-900 for Cathay Pacific. I haven't learned how to create textures yet, so would appreciate your efforts if you feel so inclined. Please let me know how you go and where to find the texture once you post it. Thanks. There's an A350-900 FSX livery pack which contains Cathay Pacific for the FSP A350-900 model at Avsim. It can be converted to FS2004 to apply with the FSP A350-900 model of FS2004. Cloudrunner
Is it easy to convert the texture from FSX to FS2004? I've never done such a conversion. Could you point me to any tutorial, especially if it's complicated or requires special software?
ital
If you're a member at AIG site you can find a tutorial there, it doesn't look too complicated to do. I can try to help if you need anything as I'm still learning it myself.
