CaptainTower
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all... I have been using a Logitech - Extreme 3D Pro Joystick for as long as I can recall and it just quit on me a few days ago. It had been acting up for a year or more to the extent that I had to recalibrate it for almost every flight and even that didn't help much. I am considering just replacing it with another one. It was never a super stick but it used to work pretty well. I am also considering these two that I saw at FSPilotShop: Thrustmaster - T - Flight HOTAS X Flight Stick $79.99 CH Flightstick Pro USB $109.95 I have always heard about the ledgendary precision of CH Products but I also have heard that CH does not have a twist handle for Rudder. I have been practicing taxiing a default FSX B738 using only the keyboard and I don't think the CH Flightstick Pro will work for me since I find that taxiing without the twist handle of the Logitech 3D Pro is a frustration I don't need. The Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS X Flight Stick is only $30 more than the Logitech 3D Pro and has a throttle. I don't want to spend too much more than a $100 or so because I don't spend that much time on FS anymore. But when I do I don't want to be frustrated by a disappointing flight stick. Any ideas? jorgen.s.andersen
That seems to be a little expensive for the Thrustmaster, usually it goes for around 50 USD or EUR. I have one, have had it for about 2 years and it works just fine. If you decide on that one, then you might want to shop around a little. CaptainTower
Thanks for the reply, Jorgen. With my Logitech 3D I was able to program the buttons using FSUIPC. Can you do that with the Thrustmaster? avallillo
I have had the HOTAS X for several years now and it has been excellent. Not only does it have a twist axis in the stick, but it has a rocker on the front of the throttle that can be used for rudder or nosewheel steering. I recommend it. CaptainTower
Thanks for the reply, Tony. I am thinking I may give this HOTAS X a try. As I said, I flew with that Logitech for a long time. I never was totally satisfied with it so why buy another. jorgen.s.andersen
I believe you can remap the buttons, I think I saw that somewhere, but have forgotten where. Jorgen
CaptainTower
I found the Thrustmaster HOTAS at Amazon: Thrustmaster 4: $69.99 Thrustmaster X: $39.99 The Thrustmaster 4 got 3-1/2 stars The Thrustmaster X got 4-1/2 stars Is the X a newer version of the 4? Skywatcher12
I would push the budget to a Logitech X52. I've used an old Logitech and a Thrustmaster 4. The X52 is far superior. Be aware the X52 is a Saitek, they were bought out by Logitech recently. Mark Daniels
TheAwesomeCobra
Just a side thought, of you want to go (really) cheap, I got all my joysticks for no more than $10 at the thrift stores, there seems to always be at least one joystick waiting to be bought. I know,I know...I sound like that cheap guy
dorianr
I have one call AV8R-01 from Saiteck, for more than 7 yrs ($50) 12 switches and dual throttle, but now, the few problem on that old Stick is from then and now need to calibrate, but is the J-Stick or FSX? after all FSX Gold it 's getting out of date (I try many J-Stick MS wingman, Magnum, Logitek , and more, but This one for the price (for me) it's the best, the thing I don't like, it's not heavy enough to holding it from sliding on the surface of my desk, oh well.. but for over $150 I hope their are best.. my opinion ;)
b747fe1
One of the best all around Joystick is the old reliable Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro. with the USB to Game Port adaptor. Can be bought on EBay for $30. Including shipping. Make sure that it had the USB to Game Port adaptor No other adaptor will work unless you modify the Game Port plug on the Joystick. I've tried Logitech CH and all other sticks for over 14 years and I will stick with the Sidewinder Precision Pro. Stay away from the Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro 3D. It only works on windows 95.
CaptainTower
I really appreciate all the excellent suggestions for a replacement flight stick. I finally decided on the VKB Sim Gladiator Mk.II suggested by "boxcar." It was $118 with shipping and that's not bad at all. I followed boxcar's link and watched the video and liked what I saw. This controller is light years ahead of my Logitech 3D Pro which was problematic from the very beginning but I used it for several years. I will give the VKB Sim Gladiator Mk.II a good trial and I'm sure it will be the best I have ever owned. Most of my flying consists of flying around in one of the General Aviation aircraft or flying a Commercial Aircraft. Thanks, boxcar and to everyone else who guided me in my decision. It's a jungle out there! ;) Thank you, Tim ASUS GL 12CX; Intel i7 9700K 3.6 GHz; 16 GB GDDR8 Memory; System BUS 2660 MHz; 8 MB L3 cache; NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6; Windows 10 Home x64
