How to move the position of the virtual cockpit

I noticed that in my 747-8i Project Opensky than the Virtual Cockpit is a bit more backwards than it should be. I do not mean the vision movement of inside the virtual cockpit, but to the cockpit complete, the 3D model of the cockpit. Would have some way to move the 3D model of the cabin (the virtual cockpit) a bit further forward?

I'm thinking that would have to be done in the model itself. Probably no way for you to do it.

Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!  ✈️

This can be done with ModelConverterX - Transform->Move object.

First do a normal merge with the original VC model. Write down the [eyepoint] values before and after.

The X,Z-distances to move by are calculated by comparing the [eyepoint] values before and after.

Convert from feet to meters, this gives you the distance to move the VC model in MCX.

After moving, export the model to a new file, and use the latter for your VC merge.

The [eyepoint] values should now be restored to their original values as well.

Don't distribute the result due to copyright issues.

Sorry to reopen what is an old thread but I've been trying to move the vc in a particular plane where it is far to low and far to aft. I've imported to modelconverterx, moved the vc and then exported. When I load the SIM (fsx se) to test my vc view is blank, just scenery, no vc. In the external view there is no plane to see but I can see the model of the vc just floating where the whole plane should be. Clearly I am doing something wrong. I am very, very new to mcx and modeling and i suspect the below could be where I'm going wrong.

After moving, export the model to a new file, and use the latter for your VC merge.

What do we mean please by vc merge?

The aircraft is a freeware version of the Fairchild c123, I've tried contacting the designer but no joy. The is just the one mdl for the aircraft, it is not split into internal and external.

Thanks to anyone who can help and sorry if this is a stupid question.

If your just trying to re-position the VC, you do it in the Aircraft.cfg

Thanks but alas no. It is the whole vc not just the viewpoint that needs moving. The problem is most noticeable when using gsx. On exterior view the stairs line up perfectly to the door. But when viewed from the vc the stairs are forward of the windscreen. Also when in vc the beacon lights are viewable left and right, they should be well aft of the cockpit.

Your reply is correct, that's indeed what the OP should do.

But as this thread is about moving the VC position in relation to the external model, I'd rather call that operation "moving the pilot to the VC", not "moving the VC". I'm aware I'm nitpicking :o.
