mrzippy
as stated in your other thread, start cranking down your sliders a little at a time to help smooth out your situation. A 2.8 GHZ processor and 2 GB RAM won't do well with lots of stuff going on. Check my specs in my signature. I do not speak with forked tongue. ;) Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Sorry, I am new to the flight sim world.
il88pp
Your error nt.dll (from your other thread today) is usually because the computer can't keep up with the demands fsx is asking from it. You can reduce those demands by reducing the graphics settings. This is done in fsx, in the settings menu. (there are sliders to increase- decrease settings), The problem could also be the computer isn't feeling its happy self. It may be slower then normal because of a virus, or because the harddisk needs defragmenting. There can be many reasons for a computer to get slow. il88pp [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JSkorna
Sliders are your settings or options. We call them sliders because on the Options page, that is what they look like! http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
il88pp
Oh, complicated payware aircraft and certain addon scenery can also be a heavy load on the computer. Using that will mean you have to reduce the settings. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
PPSFA
With only 2 gigs of RAM you are lucky FSX runs at all, most of that is being used just for the Win7 OS, add 4 gigs if you can for a total of 6.. 2 for the OS and 4 for FSX
il88pp
Fsx ran fine on my old pc with 2gb ram, win7-32bit, amd processor. Just needed to use low settings. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pvarn
No getting around the nt.dll error by starting new threads. You crashed on approach because the higher detail overwhelmed your machine which at 2.8 and 2G RAM is weak. I think most people would agree 4G RAM is about as low as one should go on Win7x64 gaming machine. 2.8 GHz is in the medium to medium low settings zone depending on the slider. Payware add-ons usually demand more horsepower than the default sim stuff. Added: When adjusting the "sliders" read the mouseover at the bottom left of the screen. When you see the word "performance", it's a clue this setting strongly influences the speed and stability of your machine. -Pv- 2 carrot salad, 10.41 liter bucket, electric doorbell, 17 inch fan, 12X14, 85 Dbm
