mrzippy
I wonder if it has a problem seeing that you have FSX-SE installed? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
Sentry_FiveZero
Did you have a previously installed version of 2004? If you didn't clean EVERYTHING associated with it off your hard drive, it's probably still finding a reference for it. il88pp
you unzipped the package first. You should not do that with WOAI. Just use the file as downloaded. Completely random example of a filename: woabcsv1.zip Or: woa_alohaaircargo_v1_fsx.zip You did what it says in the Documentation.doc file. For the current WOAI installer this is not what to do. (Maybe for an older version that was the way to do it). Tip: The installer keeps track of what you have installed. (not what is installed!!) (But of what HAS BEEN INSTALLED BY IT.) If it has installed a package once, it will not install it again. Not until you use it to uninstall the testinstall. That means if you want to test something by installing to another location, BEST DO IT WITH A DIFFERENT COPY OF THE INSTALLER. To do this easily: Make a Folder somewhere. For testing. Example: D:\FSX Desk\FSX -04- WOAI\Fake FSX Keep thing compact and together. In fake FSX the following emty(!) folders: ..\Fake FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Simobjects\Airplanes (And the others: Rotorcraft, Boats, Etc) Also: ..\Fake FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery And in ..\Fake Fsx a blank text file: (new textdocument.txt) that you then rename to: fsx.exe (this is to fool the Testing-copy of the WOAI installer.) Then the unzipped Woai installer as folder: ..\Fake FSX\woains24 (use this copy of the installer for testing only) And you make a shortcut to the Woai-installer.exe file that is in ..\fake fsx\woains24 Put the shortcut in folder: Fake FSX Now to test-install a package you can: -copy the package to 'Fake fsx' -run the or 'Testing'-WOAI Installer from there. (using the shortcut) -select the package from that 'Fake' folder -In the installer, make sure to select "for fsx", and to select the correct FSX folder!!!! (not your real one by mistake!) -install to test and see what happens. --maybe play around with 'expert mode'. -- To make the WOAI installer uninstall a package, use "expert mode" il88pp. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mabe5454
By looking at the image of the OP post #1, I compared it with mine and even though I do not have FS2004 (which I have BTW) installed mine is not grey out and I have the two choices (FS9 & FSX) available. So I would uninstall the World of AI installer and reinstall it again. Pls use the uninstaller provided it by the WOAI Installer and do not just simply delete it with Windows. I have version 2.40 of the installer and I am pretty sure it doesn't know anything about FSX_SE since the former precedes the latter by a lot. il88pp
mabe5454, No, it has nothing to do with a wrong installer. Look again at the image again in post 1. Look at the filename of the file he is installing. It is: westjet.woai.zip That means he downloaded an airline package. (Something like Woa_westjet_v*.zip) and then he has unzipped this. Inside he found file: westjet.woai.zip and that is what he has selected with the WOAI installer. Now look in the WOAI-installler.doc instruction document, included with the WOAI installer. There the image shows exactly the same type of image name. ending in .woai.zip. But... this is the wrong way to do it. If you do this, extracting first, then using the file that was inside, you will get a greyed out selection box. (So, it it looks like there is an "error" in the Readme. At least in the explaining image in the "Installer documentation.doc".) Instead, you need to NOT unzip the pack you download from Flightsim.com. You just start the WOAI installer, then select the downloaded .zip file right away. Example: Aloha cargo (FSX version in this example). Downloaded from Fightsim.com or Avsim you get: woa_alohaaircargo_v1_fsx.zip Unzipped you would get two files: WoA Aloha Air Cargo Readme.txt Aloha_Air_Cargo.woai.zip If you unzip, start the installer and select: Aloha_Air_Cargo.woai.zip to install, --->the selection is greyed out. If you do NOT unzip, start the installer, and select: woa_alohaaircargo_v1_fsx.zip it works right away. il88pp. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mabe5454
il88pp, You are in post #5 and post #1 hasn't been fixed yet as I see it. I double click in my WOAI icon, press next, press the down button in target and: Nothing is grey out and no packages have been selected yet. Why doesn't his look like it in post #1? Note: I do not have MFS2004 installed in my PC. http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fname=WOAINS24.zip Cheers,
f16jockey_2
Are you running the installer "as administrator" ? Running WoAI on FSX Steam isn't considered a problem. Just point the installer to fsx.exe in your steam folders (once you get the "greyed out" problem fixed). IMO the WoAI installer doesn't check for installed FS versions on startup. This problem lies elsewhere. Permissions IMO. Wim
jorgen.s.andersen
My WOAI installer looks like mabe5454's. It is important that one uses the latest installer - WOAI posts notes to that effect. I could believe that this one of the issues the OP has. il88pp
you guys did not first an invalid file to install. sigh. If he does not select a package first, it will probably look the same for him too. If he first selects the package CORRECTLY, it would also work. But, if you first UNZIP the .zip you download, and the TRY to install what was INSIDE that .zip file --------------------> ------>(WHICH IS A FILE ENDING IN: *****.woai.zip then it does not work!! I said that two or three times now. Try it if you don't believe it. Download a WOAI package, unzip it, run the woai installer and select that file that was inside the zip. Called ***.woai.zip (Notice there is a PERIOD before .woai and also a period before .zip THEN it does not work. Just like it does not work when he does it. (PS: Already answered by Jorgen/jorgen, but if I do not select any file first, mine does the same as yours. As it should.) f16jockey_2
I said that two or three times now. Try it if you don't believe it. If there's one stubborn person here, it's certainly not me. Here we go: a) Don't select a package -> WORKS b) Select the ZIP as you downloaded it -> WORKS c) Extract the zip, and try to install the ***.woai.zip -> WORKS Tested with WoAI installer v2.04 Wim
il88pp
Gosh darn it, youre right. I wonder what I did then yesterday, I'm sure I had a file selected ending in .woai.zip, and got a greyed out selection. ?weird. Looking now I see that indeed, bith file types are allowed: .zip .woai.zip SOrry for the confusion. '~' (and after that, selection of fsx in drop down is possible. Didn't try installing fully to test.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JSkorna
The solution is that his Windows registry doesn't have FSX SE recorded so the WOAI installer doesn't know about it. OP: Get the Flight one registry repair utility and run it. Then try WOAI again. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
mabe5454
The OP doesn't have any of the FS2004 and/or FSX simulators just the SE, so that's the reason for the WOAI-Installer to be completed grey out. It is all Zippy's fault. :D Cheers,
