watchur6 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I am getting the following error message when I execute vPilot: "SIM CONNECT ERROR: VERSION MISMATCH 5". This message appeared after I tired to connect Active Sky Evolution to FSX. ASE installed properly and then asked me to install X Gauge. I installed it and then tried to use vPilot and the error appeared. I cannot figure out how to uninstall X Gauge. I am running both FSX and FSX Steam on the same PC and both run fine. I can run ASE and vPilot on FSX Steam but not on FSX. I only encounter the problem when I try to run on FSX. I don't like Steam and wish I had never bought but I'm stuck with it. I am running on W7. The FSX version I am having the problem with is the boxed Deluxe Edition. I could uninstall all of ASE to see if that fixes the message but then cannot reinstall as it is a download version and I can't find the original install. Dealing with HiFi Tech support is a horror. Anyone have any ideas?
napamule2 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Google: 'vPilot settings model mismatch' to get info. Error might not be X Gauge error. evm Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 A Simconnect version mismatch means, that the client has been compiled with a different version of the SimConnect libraries than the simulator you are trying to connect to expects. If the client app was made for FSX:SE and you try to connect it to FSX deluxe you would get this exception. Try this: 1. find the "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" in your FSX deluxe SDK. \Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib\managed 2. Copy this file into the folder where the EXE for vPilot is. Note: this will only work if vPilot is managed code - no idea if that is the case.
napamule2 Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 The model mismatch is not talking about the simconnect 'model' (it would have to be 'version'). The model mismatch is refering to the model of the AIRCRAFT being used or attempting to be used. JSkorna Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Yes it is. Simconnect doesn't know about aircraft models. Simconnect is used to communicate with external programs such as ASE and vPilot. In fact you could delete simconnect from your Windows folder and FSX would run just fine under stock conditions. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png

He doesn't say anything about the aircraft models.
